Matt Damon Wants to Make Another Bourne Movie, But Not Getting Younger

Matt Damon has already played Jason Bourne four times, most recently in the appropriately titled 2016 film “Jason Bourne,” but the 53-year-old actor is eager to return to the Robert Ludlum espionage franchise once again.

In a recent appearance on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” Damon addressed the state of the “Bourne” franchise and his future involvement with it. He confirmed that “All Quiet on the Western Front” director Edward Berger is in the early stages of developing a new entry in the series, and expressed openness to starring in the film if it materializes.

“There is a great director named Edward Berger,” Damon said. “[‘All Quiet on the Western Front’] is a fantastic film, and he’s wonderful and he said he had an idea. I would love to work with him, so he’s working on it. Look, I’m as anxious as you are to see if this thing [happens] — I hope it’s great and that we can do it.” 

Damon added a caveat to his enthusiasm, explaining that aging will inevitably require him to pass the “Bourne” torch onto another actor in the near future.

“At a certain point somebody is going to need to take it over,” he said. “I’m not getting any younger.”

Though he initially planned to take a break from acting, Damon is coming off of a busy 2023 that saw him star in Ben Affleck’s “Air” and take on a key supporting role in Christopher Nolan’s awards juggernaut “Oppenheimer.” For his next project,…
