As she preps her as-yet-untitled third album, Megan Thee Stallion is also getting ready to do something she’s never done before: hit the road for a full-on solo summer tour. Speaking to Good Morning America on Tuesday (Jan. 30), the “Hiss” rapper revealed that she’s planning to come to your town this summer.
“Oh, we’ve having the tour this year. The Hot Girl Sumer tour is going to be 2024, summertime,” the rapper said; at press time the dates and venues for the outing had not yet been announced. “I feel like I’ve never been able to be outside doing my own thing during the summer, since like 2019. So this is going to be the first time that I drop an album on time for the summer. I do want to give the hotties the Megan Thee Stallion experience.”
Meg has been working on the follow-up to her 2022 album Traumazine, with no official release date or timetable announced yet for the MC’s third full-length studio effort. The rapper also discussed returning to the game following the conclusion of the Dec. 2022 trial of Tory Lanez for shooting Meg in the foot two years earlier; Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison last August.
“It was really rough because for the past couple years, music just seemed so negative to me,” Megan told GMA about the hate she endured from users on social media — and some fellow A-listers — who questioned the details of the traumatizing incident. “I just wasn’t in a good space mentally after everything that had happened to me and it just all felt like, ‘I’m tired of this. I’m tired of fighting.’ But I had to tell myself, you know what, I don’t want to give up.”
Though she didn’t discuss it on the morning program, that trolling continued this week when Nicki Minaj dropped the diss track “Big Foot” over the weekend, which referenced the shooting in lines such as, “I guess she needed money/ Bags for them Trey Songz.” Minaj’s song was a response to Megan’s new single, “Hiss,” which appeared to takes shots at Minaj’s husband, registered sex offender Kenneth Petty, with a reference to Megan’s Law, a federal law requiring law enforcement to make information about registered sex offenders publicly available.
