Israel intercepts missiles launched from Lebanon

A barrage of rockets fired from Lebanon has triggered sirens across northern Israel, with reports of explosions in areas south of Haifa. Israeli media outlets have reported that more than 110 missiles have been launched from Lebanon into northern Israel since Friday morning.

This escalation in tensions has raised concerns of a potential conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, the Lebanese militant group. Al Jazeera’s Imran Khan has provided the latest updates from Hasbaiyya, in southern Lebanon, where the rockets are believed to have been launched from.

Israel’s Iron Dome defense system has reportedly intercepted some of the missiles, preventing casualties and damage in populated areas. Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett has warned that Israel will respond forcefully to any further attacks from Lebanon.

The incident comes amid heightened tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, with both sides exchanging threats in recent months. The international community has called for restraint and de-escalation to prevent a full-scale conflict in the region.

It remains to be seen how the situation will unfold in the coming days, but the threat of violence looms large as Israel and Lebanon navigate through this latest escalation in tensions.
