29:48 FIDELITY refunds all my ATM fees around the world. Also FIDELITY lets you buy Bitcoin and they custody your Bitcoin and keep it safe. Btfd!
Maybe limit each transaction bank wise to a bare minimal amount so it will take longer to withdraw large amounts.. 😞
I don’t use debit cards when traveling internationally I don’t use them at all if the card is taking away from me.
ask the bank if they have an account they have good interest rate and just keep the money there, and in the end of the year you earn some extra money.. 🙂
yawn
My tips from traveling the world:
– Try to never use your primary bank card for ATM or POS purchases unless it’s 100% safe e.g. airports or at bank. The easiest way to get a 2nd debit card is to get a Wise multi-currency account (anyone should be able to apply for one online easily). Then just transfer $$$ in via Apple Pay or bank as you need it and you’ll have as much cash as you need but not too much if you somehow get skimmed or stolen. Yes there’s a small fee it’s worth it to insulate your actual account.
– Use Apple Pay exclusively on all POS purchases. You would be surprised how many countries now support tap payment, and it’s the safest mode possible.
– Agree with Gabe on having cash on hand. But just stick with Euros it’s all you really need worldwide. And many countries you can alternately pay cash txns in euros.
Happy New Year ! 😊❤🇧🇦🗻🏔⛰
Isn´t there a daily/ weekly withdrawal limit one can define ? And what about house sitting ? Is it a nice option ? 😉
I fully understand & sympathize 😊 this happened to me years ago in the UK when I was living there & someone somehow used my bank details in the states to buy about a $100 worth of makeup 😮 imagine my surprise when I noticed this & contacted my bank & explained the situation 😅 they reimbursed me within a few days 🎉 so yeah, I know the feeling of online banking fraud 😢 it's a real thing 😳 anyway, glad things have worked out & wanted to wish you & family a happy New years🎉 may 2026 be a year of abundance & good fortune 🔮 take care Gabe 👋🏼
I wouldn't go for revolut they got a terrible reputation.
There has to be a better bank account in terms of withdrawal fees
Best is simply to have limited funds on a travel card. Top it up as needed
Nice town
The WISE card seems like a good alternative. Will give it a try next month.
Less than a year a need to call capital one customer service, the people who answer the phone call was scammers,I don’t how they do that .sound like people from India, right away start to place charges in my card small ones like a dollar and more.i call them back never answer was late a night% look that all that area is fraud heaven.
Colombian famous pick pocket
Make your bank take off the VISA logo on your debit card. This turns the card into just an ATM card. Cannot be used without Pin number.
Great news! 👍
Happy new year Gabriel ,wish you good health and great travelling experience in 2026.
My debit card was duplicated buying solar panels in person from a wholesale warehouse in Vetmont; before I returned home a trial purchase ofv6 cents was made online in Australia.
Just saying it is a fragile system with corruption commensurate with the desperation of the locals.
Good news, I talked with Wells Fargo yesterday, they asked a bunch of questions and then decided to give me a provisional credit, refunding the full amount back into my bank account, while the investigation continues. They said the investigation could take up to ninety days to conclude. But considering the circumstances it seems unlikely they would decide to deduct the money later, when it's such a clear case of fraud. I'll see what happens. And yes, I know that "ATM machine" is redundant. 😛
