First Impressions of Amtrak in the USA 🇺🇸 Amtrak Cascades Seattle to Portland
Embarking on her first-ever journey on an Amtrak train, seasoned traveler Laura Bronner takes us along for the ride from Seattle to Portland. After 14 years of globetrotting, Laura finally decides to explore the western side of the USA and what better way to do it than on an Amtrak train.
The journey starts at the stunning King Street Station in Seattle, beautifully renovated to its former glory with a $55 million investment. Despite a short delay due to staffing shortages, Laura remains unfazed as she settles in for the trip. The beauty of train travel is that there’s no rush, allowing her to comfortably work at a spacious table during the three-hour journey.
The views between Seattle and Olympia may not be the most spectacular, but the experience of train travel itself is what Laura is after. The train, especially on the return journey from Portland to Seattle, boasts new and comfortable seats, clean facilities, and plenty of storage space for luggage.
While there were a few inconveniences such as delays and various smells on the train, the overall experience was pleasant. Laura notes the affordability of Amtrak, with a round trip from Seattle to Portland costing less than a tank of gas in her car.
Overall, Laura highly recommends trying Amtrak for a sustainable and leisurely travel experience in the USA. With no assigned seats, the opportunity to meet new people, and an enjoyable journey through scenic landscapes, Amtrak offers a unique way to explore the country.
With plans to try out more routes in the future, Laura encourages her audience to share their own experiences with Amtrak and express their thoughts on train travel. So, if you’re looking for a different way to travel and slow down to enjoy the journey, hop on board an Amtrak train and see where the tracks take you.
