In South Korea, protests have erupted as opposition parties have initiated impeachment proceedings against President Yoon Suk Yeol following his brief imposition of martial law. The president’s decision was met with strong resistance from lawmakers, who unanimously voted to reject the measure, leading to its swift reversal just hours later.
Thousands of demonstrators gathered for a candlelight vigil outside the parliament in Seoul, before marching against President Yoon and calling for his resignation. The protesters are expressing their outrage over the president’s actions and demanding accountability for what they see as a violation of democratic principles.
The situation in South Korea remains tense as calls for President Yoon’s removal grow louder. The impeachment proceedings underscore the deep divisions within the country’s political landscape and the concerns of many citizens over the state of democracy in South Korea.

Demise? They don't mess around over there, that's real old school.
YSY coup failed he declare himself emperor yoon of SK n NK 😆
We need to do the same if Trump try to pull this mess. Not sure it would work though too many sick o fans following him. The rich n politicians just want to keep him n office to make them richer n the other part of the population is so dumb down n racist they don’t understand what he wants to do is harmful.
South Koreans standing up for democracy and against a coup plotter. What a contrast to the US.
However, Trump associated media in the US and Australia support Yoon claiming eg that the SK unions are communists/socialists.
Dw ?? Demise.. demise means death. Ig you need to use another translator for korean language.. end is not demise. End of an elected chair means its dissolution but demise means death of the person on chair. This is basic English here.
They want him dead? Demise means the death of.
HONOR & THE PRESIDENCY 2024 -??
Honor, morality, faith and integrity
Are the glue which holds society in place.
Pornography, hate, jealousy and greed
Cause man to be plagued by disgrace.
All through history up to today
Our chronicle of life is accountability.
Evil is a beast feasting on souls
Corrupting man with greed, hate and disability.
The perfume of good deeds projects fame
Performed by those with great passion.
Not by persons in corrupt temples
Whose honesty, they must ration.

Why does have Korea such a loser as a president in the first place???
Impeamebnt is one thing, but he can also be charged with Rebellion, which according to Korean law, the death penalty is a possibility.
this is called real democracy here in pakistan our treasury lawmakers are dancing on the orders of general Asim Munir ( The Killer)
dudes going straight to jail for this. He was already facing impeachment before and his wife was under investigation for corruption. He's cooked.
Coup de tat is why he invoked martial law. But you guys are sheep and can't read between the lines. They showed Americans what democracy is all about, but Americans rather argue about gender and celebrities and butter. Pathetic.
Yoon is an embarrassment to Korea, to democratic institutions, and to humanity at large. Sad.
0:26 park guen hye nostalgia 💀
And Canada can't even impeach Trudeau lol
Yoon needs to go right away. Pure embarrassment
Impeachment is a weak response to an attempted coup, he should be arrested and charged with high treason.
That president should be impeached for having wasted one day of work in the country for the population
Korea have alot of history with bad presidents. There have been presidents that have been overthrown, impeached, assassinated, jailed post-presidency, sentenced to death (although later this was lowered to life sentence, then later lowered to sentence on commute/parole then he died of cancer from old age.) but there have not been a SK president who resigned yet. He MIGHT be the first SK president to resign over this.
The ruling party opposes the impeachment of the president despite his illegal martial and unconstitutional law. They are leading the Republic of Korea to destruction.
People here are talking as if people living in liberal democracies are happy about their leaders, their governments and their track records. Look at the approval rating of the leaders in Western Liberal democracies. Biden in the US, Trudeau in Canada, Starmer in the UK, Macron in France, Scholz in Germany and now Yoon in South Korea.
They will be lucky if they are able to get 30% approval rate.
People living in all their countries absolutely hate them and despise them all. Why? Because they are all incompetent, inefficient and cant get anything done.
Also how can you develop and run a country when you put forward a policy to develop and run a country and then the opposition party blocks all of its or even when it is passed in congress only to be completely undone in 4 or 5 years when a new party comes to power.
How can you implement long term policies that will benefit society and the country 10 to 20 years from now when the price of it today might be unpleasant and unpopular with the people.
Democracy also leads to deep divisions within countries among social, class, ethnic, cultural, language, religious and regional lines. It breeds demagogues, civil unrest, civil strife and eventually even civil war and secessionism in some cases.
This is the aftermath of liberal democracy.
The people who were in charge of implementing the reforms and policies that transformed S. Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Indonesia and many other countries and regions into development and prosperity that they enjoy today were all autocrats.
Democracy leads to inefficient governments led by incompetent leaders who were only appointed to power because they won a popularity contest. It leads to governments that can't get anything done and no problems fix.
The best system of government is meritocracy.
A leader should never be allowed to become president or Prime Minister of a country unless they have governed a province or state successfully before and produced good results. One should never be allowed to govern a province or state unless they have run a city or town successfully an shown good results.
He tried a martial law… He's leaving the presidency willingly.
