We r assuming social skills are less important…children need to work together. Yes, instructional videos can work
Cōnmigo, Anderson. Cōnmigo.
one more nail in the coffin of American education
Seems like they’re learning this stuff for nothing then.
So in 15 years we’ll have a bunch of smart kids who can’t do anything with their genius because the computers do all the jobs and thinking for humans.
Bad, bad, bad idea, using AI to teach kids. Why? 1) Because AI can easily be manipulated to present a biased view of the world. It learns from the learning material presented to it. If the learning material is biased (usually with an agenda in mind), the AI output will be biased. 2) If you let AI do your thinking, you will lose your ability to think. Bad idea.
12:52 🧢 kids won’t go into a classroom. They’ll learn at home, alone with a robot. He knows this too.
100 percent against its making teachers and education lazy .
Lol. When people are too dumb to really understand what is going on this is what happens and it will not end well. There is a reason they are bringing these things to young kids so it is normalized and can be used to manipulate and control people since those who control the information , control the thoughts and actions of the majority. They are trying to centralize information under one governing body and that is the US New WORLD ORDER!
There is no such thing as an AI Tutor since it cannot make its own decision on how to prepare and enforce its program or syllabus or how to interact with students or help them.
The whole AI thing is a scam and a buzz word being used to manipulate the dumb while creating an illusion that something is being done that is not actually happening in the context of what they are claiming.
I really cant wait to see the future with the amount of zombies that will be controlled by a central technological brain
Technology is fine, but you can't take the data from AI as fact. Imagine if the person who controls the AI wants you to only see certain information. You need to know how to determine this data is fact based and isn't just manipulative. This is a growing problem since social media, and AI can be used to misinform even further.
7:47 if the burden placed on teachers is too great, hire more teachers and/or make smaller classes.
Brilliant! Well done Khan Academy!
Great report! As a retired esl teacher, I used Khan academy in some classes and it was great! I wish I had had this OpenAI tech. The English teacher is right, it's tough to spend the time going over all the writing that students need to do to become proficient for English entrance exams. I also agree that teachers will always be needed in class for behavior and support for students. AI is good at positive verbal feedback but a human, giving high fives, hugs, or proud-of-you smiles is what motivates students. 😊
The challenge will be what happens when the AI goes offline temporarily. This is already happening in jobs where software and other tools rely on AI integration. We have to continue to teach kids how to learn and not just hand them a crutch. It’s the same reason AI can’t fully replace teachers or other jobs. We have to balance real effort and self sufficiency with any new technology. We’re already seeing the psychological effects of this with adults that misplace their mobile device. Allowing technology to control our behavior instead of the other way around is a very cold reality.
I would assume this is not going to help with the nation literacy epidemic though. Most likely amplify it. Humans are lazy and this tech just seems to highlight it even more. We used to hand rough drafts to peers for review now we like the magical robots tell us what’s what.
Weapons of mass instruction- give it a read robots
The Baha'i Faith includes teachings, one of which is the harmony of science and religion. Science helps create new innovations such as what is presented in this report; religion should provide the moral values, so that the innovations are used for the benefit of mankind.
I can't imagine being a Boomer that couldn't program a VCR, set up an iPad, cancel cable TV, drop their home phone, use Google and now this AI… This is why the 🍊 🤡 is back.
Didn't pay for social media. Or Google. Not paying for this. They collect our data.
Call it a AI tutor, not a tutor, a tutor is a human figure trained for a specific purpose that knows the kids and can provide much more than just facts and details.
I think this is a brilliant idea. I can't wait to see where this goes in 3 years.
This is a tech-support of the future
I am using AI in my classroom already. Loving it. I can wait to try khanmigo.
Amazing
This is going to make education much more affordable imagine getting a degree using an AI teacher coupled with occasional guidance from a real human teacher. You can literally self teach yourself anything.
So, Salman Khan became Sal Khan!
When he first came into prominence and a lot of people were checking him out, he was confused with a Bolywood actor of the same name and Bill Gates in a public forum warned that the 2 are not the same!
This Khan has come a long way since.
Even so, Khan Academy, good though it is, is only as good as the student is. A good student can make good use of its resources. Period.
I never knew Khan himself records the audio for most of this videos for the tutorials on Khan Academy.
So u will make their training easier, but for what jobs??? AI robots will be doing all the jobs, soon.
I’m very grateful for Khan Academy. Recently, I finished the Grammar course, and now I’m working on math. It’s an insane free resource.
12:47 That's the thing I strongly disagree on. I think classrooms and specifically teachers can (and in some cases should) be replaceable in the future to benefit the student.
Teachers in front of a class, by way too many considered the base (or even the only valid) teaching model, stands in the way of finding the real optimal way for a random individual to learn new and/or complicated stuff. Everybody's different, and so are teachers. So a mismatch between teacher and student can have dramatic consequences but is something that's been accepted for far too long.
Some kids will still be academic failures, and some parents won't accept it. If you want to help those less academically inclined, let them start working way before 18 so they can earn money and gain some independence instead of feeling like a failure.
ChatGPT singing math formulas in a video call is something I really never imagined to experience. 😅
Is AI worth the negative environmental impact it creates? Time will tell.
As useful as a personal tutor appears … and as much as I like and respect Sal Khan's teaching philosophies … as a parent and physicist, I find the increasing reliance on technology to teach very frustrating and inefficient – my son spends more time trying to debug the apps meant to teach him math and physics and less time on concepts. Simple handouts provide a much better measure of students' understanding of key concepts. I think the apps take a lot of pressure off the teachers and put it on the parents. Good luck figuring out what your kids are even working on in school – you have to get their password(s) and dig around through their account(s) to try to find the assignments … and do this for each class! Textbooks weren't perfect but they have a lot of advantages over digital apps and are, in my opinion, more efficient. Of course Google doesn't donate textbooks, just chromebooks that school districts quickly become locked into.
6:24 The teacher's looking into the data is supposed to be just as time-saving for the teacher? As a teacher, I doubt that. Interacting with the kids directly may take less time and be more reliable and more enjoyable for both student and teacher.
10:57 Errors are always treated like that: oh, it is just a temporary weakness. But it is not. It is an intrinsic limit of LLMs. However, teaching people wrong things with such authority = definitely not something we would want.
13:14 They say want to amplify the time teachers have with their students. However, following their digital footprints and verifying LLM outputs will be a significant drawback.
This is an existential threat to the Dept of Education and Commiefornia unions. Hopefully Trump axes DOE so this can thrive and private schools…
My wife who is a HS teacher used openAI to get her masters online and got a $20K a yr raise. Only cost her about $3,000.
I deeply appreciate khan academy, but humans who write well are still better writers than AI.
The impromptu song 🥇
If this is anything like the Academy it will be a good product. I hope all of the platforms remain free. I have used the Academy since it first came out. I used it to help my son and later myself.
I had a marble cover notebook with little cheat helpers on the back!
Khanmigo killed Spock! Khanmigo!
"HEDGE FUND ANALYST" can teach people to be more predictable. Easier to monetize our existence in THEIR world. We could hire teachers and create jobs, to boost society, but the Technofeudalists win.
I'm sure it will help people to choose productivity over our human nature. The rich get richer, and the poor eat eachother to become rich on a pile of bones.
Wait till they have a Christian or Islamic, or Chinese Communist Khanmigo….and only teach Science from a Biblical, etc., perspective-and are able to brainwash from a very young age9of 5 or 6)…….Going to be a great world..
its a pleasure to meet Khan !! thank you khan <3
I like how you can see the revolt of teachers trying to catch students using Ai to actually working with Ai to help make us all better
I watched Khan Academy videos to help me when I was reviewing for a government exam.
Maybe they will adapt…
But Humans will miss human-to-human interactions and attachment
