Thailand and Cambodia Reach Ceasefire Agreement Amid Rising Tensions
In a significant diplomatic breakthrough, Thailand and Cambodia have agreed to a ceasefire following several days of intense and deadly cross-border skirmishes. This decision comes after an international call for an end to the violence, which has persisted for five alarming days, resulting in the tragic loss of 35 lives and displacing approximately 300,000 individuals.
The border clashes have reignited longstanding tensions between the two Southeast Asian nations, particularly in areas surrounding the disputed temple regions of Preah Vihear and Prasat Ta Moan Thom. The recent escalation has raised concerns of a deeper humanitarian crisis, prompting regional and international actors to intervene.
Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim played a pivotal role in facilitating ceasefire discussions, proposing an urgent dialogue soon after the outbreak of hostilities. His diplomatic efforts reflect a growing awareness of the instability such disputes create not only for the countries involved but also for the wider region.
The humanitarian impact of the conflict has been profound. Thousands of families have been forced to flee their homes, adding to the growing number of displaced individuals. The escalating violence underscores the need for sustained international mediation and a comprehensive approach to resolving the underlying issues fueling these border tensions.
As both nations move to solidify the ceasefire, there is cautious optimism that diplomatic channels will remain open for continued negotiations. The situation serves as a reminder of the fragile peace in border regions and the urgent need for collaborative efforts to promote stability and security in Southeast Asia.

Every country in the world definitely wants peace. Here, it depends on how much Cambodia will keep its word. And it says that it is poor, a small country, never disturbed anyone, never attacked anyone first. But in reality, the cause comes from here. Starting with the country's ruler who only deceives, seeking benefits for himself. The people are poor, but he himself is comfortable. Let me emphasize that the leader of this country deceives one thing to the face and another behind the back. This kind of information is not difficult to test. Try being a friend or business partner of this country. Then you will know, just like ASEAN people who know what this country is like, like China who knows and can see what this country is like.
WE are brothers and sister in ASEAN. no need for us to have war in real life. let's keep the fight in social media that's what a true ASEAN means.
Dear world, I'm worried about Thai's side because they broke their promises. On 24th of July 2025, Mr. Priminster Anwar Ibhrahim of Malaysia also helped both countries to cease fire. Both agreed, but unfortunately, Thailand troops still continued bombing Cambodia. July 26 2025, Mr. President Donald Trump told both countries to mediate the fire, but Still, Thailand again used heavy weapons, F-16 fighter jets, cluster bombs, and toxic smoke on Cambodia, resulting in civilian's homes, pagodas, our world heritage, Preah Vihear are destroyed. Thailand didn't obey their promises. Thailand is a two- faces country. Promises in the front, but bomb behind.
Cambodia has always sought for peace, brought the case to the ICJ many times, while Thailand keeps refusing. Thailand chooses violence. Don't Thai to the world! Stop here!
Disband the Asean. Useless. An alliance in case of wars. Instead they declare war on each other. Useless.
That ridiculous that the country who fired hospitals, children and innocent saying that they need peace.
I appreciate your help Malaysia 🇲🇾
