UMMM we fixed this in the 80s ~green peace~ the new world stuffed it……………… go gen x………….
Plastic enables our modern world including modern medicine
My husband and I live on a sailboat. We very rarely see trash in the ocean, but sometimes on the beach. We try to pick it up if we can get to it. Mostly just a few Mylar balloons off the East coast of the US. We see lots of turtles, but no drinking straws.
In the islands, people burn trash. They have no choice. They should have no harsh judgement as this is their only option. Most island nations are poor.
You can't blame the consumer for doing a lawful harmful thing (buying plastics), you can't blame companies for doing harmful lawful things for profit, because companies will do anything profitable that is lawful. So who should you blame? No-one, do not enter the toxic blame game. Instead, demand lawmakers to start gradually taxing and banning the harmful thing. The market will find a cheaper alternative.
I would choose a glass option over a plastic bottle if I had the option, someone just needs to give me that option.
So lies by environmental NGOs to push an agenda and get more funding. What's new?
I know the topic is really bad… But damn she hot😂
if we are fucked from paint i give up now
we should go back to Stone Age!
We need to change the way plastic is made. All Plastics need to be made biodegradable.
I agree that we must reduce the amount of plastic produced, because it’s a serous problem, but with what are we going to replace it? If we are going to reduce the amount of plastic produced we need regulation for the new product, because the majority of time the replacing product have a bigger carbon footprint than plastic product, so increasing the production of them to substitute plastic we are increasing the carbon emitted in the atmosphere, which is also a huge problem. If it was that easy we would have a,ready done it. We need better regulation for the life cycle of every product we make, not only plastic, there are more enemies out there.
Imagine thinking the UN is going to solve a problem.
People forgot how to use their brain so much , connecting plastic amount we produce to amount of plastic being thrown away is a controversial issue. All types of crisis today are connected to the crisis in the education system, focus on the roots of all of the problems.
You don’t have to look far to find yet another YouTube entity saying that you are being lied to. How do we know that we are not being lied to in this video? No problem, just wait for the next video and they will say you are being lied to. 😵💫
Roll the cost of disposal/recycling into the cost of the product. All of a sudden plastic usage will PLUMMET. This takes the burden of "producing a profit" off of the recycling industry and firmly puts the responsibility of choosing a better option on the manufacturers and consumers…where it belongs.
Just because plastic becomes "part of the environment" doesn't mean it belongs there. It is artificial and not in a good way, which is also proven. Leaving it alone is lazy and naive.
The ones blaming and shaming are the biggest hypocrites or liars. These activists make good business out of all this. Look at them is their anyone who is spending their own money? All of them live much better than the ones they are pointing to.
George Carlin had a hilarious routine explaining how Mother Nature made humans because she wanted a layer of plastic but couldn't make it herself. Once she has her plastic layer we will become obsolete.
The problem with recycling is that it is expensive. Great video. Cheers from Brazil.
What‘s the take here? That the internet is full of exaggerations and lies? Oh, no! 😮
The most recent development in recycling has been the holy Grail, is vaporization, plastics can be mixed and are processed the same way crude oil is back to their elemental components. This is a recent development and is the wave of the future, now they just need to figure out how to do it with more efficient energy sources.
Even the recycling that is done is very publicly subsidized. Its only economically viable by itself at high population density and adherence. It cannot be possible to recycle plastics that are distributed rurally, for example. Its an unaccounted cost of production. Externality. If it were factored in to the cost, it may be profitable to recycle. If aluminum were 1% of the cost, it wouldnt be “recyclable” either.
Moral of the story is do not trust any journalist anymore. Most all the good journalists have lost their life
Plastic products and packaging are often cheaper, more convenient, or healthier. Plastics save weight and decrease fuel consumption. At the same time they are killing us. It is a viscous cycle and more people need to look at the big picture. Laws limiting plastic production could have very adverse effects.
Ya know hearing "you're being lied to about plastic…" from a channel with 'business' in the title does not promote confidence…
I get lambasted for using plastic bags but Taylor Swift can pop in her jet and fly 5 minutes down the street if she wants to. Maybe focus on that instead of this crap
No one lied….they got called racist when proving that certain country's were dumping fishing gear at sea to save money.
“We could discover a new source of microplastics that’s even bigger [than paint].” Oh boy, do I have news for you…TPO Roofing.
Good video
good job
how do i know you are not lying to us too, huh?
What about third World countries in East Asia that have no regulation and are responsible for the vast majority of ocean plastic? Like China, India, Nigeria…? We blame plastic straws and factories in India are dumping plastic into rivers by the tons!
The scam of recycling is charging people a tax on each bottle or can.
Use the "Scandinavian way" to increase recycling of PET bottles; increase the price of a PET bottle of soda/water/etc with 10 cents. Then setup machines for recycling bottles and get 10 cents for every bottle put in the recycling machine. We call it "pant", maybe pawn in English?
