On February 11, 2015, the European Space Agency’s IXV experimental vehicle splashed down in the Pacific after a fiery atmospheric re-entry. This is the story of the complex and perilous salvage mission, led by the Italian company Fratelli Neri, to recover the multi-million euro spacecraft from the middle of the ocean.
