Summary:
Saddle up for a ride into the rugged heart of Afghanistan with The Horsemen, a visually arresting film that transcends the sphere of sports dramas. Released in 1971 and helmed by the talented John Frankenheimer, this cinematic epic centers on Uraz, portrayed by the magnetic Omar Sharif. As a proud buzkashi rider—where the stakes of this brutal sport exceed even the most intense forms of polo—Uraz grapples with notions of honor, pride, and the weight of familial expectations.
The narrative kicks off with a harrowing injury during a buzkashi match, prompting Uraz on a profound journey of pain and redemption. His relationship with his father, played with intense fervor by Jack Palance, adds layers of conflict and emotional depth, drawing viewers into the struggles faced by Uraz not just on the field, but within the complexities of a father-son dynamic steeped in traditional values.
Set against sweeping landscapes, The Horsemen offers a rich tapestry of Afghan culture, punctuated by a powerful score that heightens the emotional stakes of the journey. This film is a testament to 1970s cinema, presenting more than just a sports narrative; it unravels a cultural odyssey steeped in sweat, dust, and the unyielding spirit of manhood.
With its compelling performances and poignant storytelling, The Horsemen stands out as a unique exploration of tradition and identity—a must-watch for lovers of classic cinema.

The game with the horses belongs to Turco-Mongolian tribes, actually.

Saw this YEARS AGO, EXCELLENT MOVIE!
Make NO mistakes ! Unholywood loves to wreck cars and kill horses.
Awesome Movie! I've falling in love with Omar Shariff when I watch a movie Dr. Zhibago from S. Korea back in 70's. Looking forward to see more of good old movies like this.
Excellent film , something unusual! The scenes of Afghanistan were stunning – and the horses .
More sick practices of animal cruelty, animal fighting as a sport and entertainment. Such sick and twisted human beings and torture forced upon animals. I will not watch this movie.
Wonderful movie thanks for uploading the movie Omar Sharif is one of my favourite actors 🎉❤ He acted brilliantly in Dr Zivago🎉❤ first time I saw Buzakashi in the movie ' Dharmatma ' ( Hindi movie) directed by inimitable Feroz Khan 🎉❤🎉❤I won't forget Dany Dezegopa 's acting as a whip lashing Buzakashi rider 🎉❤
Awesome to watch such a beautiful movie. The old traditional Afganistan must to see.

все в этом фильме замечательно: сюжет, игра актеров, съемки. Почему у совр режиссеров исчез интерес к постановке фильмов в таком стиле…..

American Ukrainian Volodymyr Palahniuk aka Jack Palance in real life had two farms one in California which was a cattle ranch and the other in his home town of Latimer mines . That's why he stared in City Slickers and won an Oscar in 1992 . His one up push ups is a legend.
Beautiful photography
Saw this movie when I was in school. Saw it now n understood the beauty n emotions. Omar Shariff was was still remains my Hot Favourite ❤️ ❤❤
film de 1971, j'avais 13 ans, d'après l'oeuvre de Joseph Kessel "Les Cavaliers"
J.Palance comme O.Sharif sublimes ! Que le temps passe vite !
The only actor who could replace Jack Palance would be Anthony Quinn, Omar Sharif would be irreplaceable.
WHILE ANSWER FOR PRAER NO ONE PRAY THE SHOW IN THE MOVIE THE SAME TIME PRAER THAT'S WRONG
Culture shock is the best way to describe this movie.
It was John Frankenheimer whose every film was full of action, a classic and a hit. Master director like J Lee Thompson.
Afghanistan before the Russians before the Taliban before the Americans. This was great to see.
So much stupidity in men to prove their maleness. Just like bullfighting, fox hunting, boxing, etc.
It is impossible for me to watch this film given the historical backdrop of Afghanistan being in turmoil either no rights for women or gay people and the pullout of the American troops during the Biden presidency that further set back Afghanistan’s people. There is also the issue of antisemitism that is not part of this film. It is as though this film is so out of touch with historical reality that it is a tormenting experience just to watch it for its irrelevance.
Great movie, great actors. It`s a shame they don`t make movies like this now days.
很可惜我不懂英語!但很喜愛英語片如有中文字幕更好😊😊😊
In an opening scene Uraz says "Carotid artery", but later thinks wrapping a page of the Koran on a broken leg will work wonders….? Meanwhile many commenters here think that seeing this work of fiction is like discovering Nirvana.
Zareh is a real Jezebel!
Animal cruelty!
