5-year-old Melissa disappears at Christmas 1989. The only suspect the police have is 24-year-old Caleb Hughes. Hughes left the party at the very moment of Melanie’s disappearance. Analysts collected 50 blue acrylic fibers while searching the suspect’s car. Analysis of these micro-indicators reveals that they are identical to those on the sweater Melanie was wearing at the time of her disappearance. Her body was never found, but the evidence was overwhelming. Hughes is found guilty.

Horrible, monstruoso😰
Could have sold her!😢
Hughes was released after 29 years…
then sent back to jail for violating sex offender laws…
He was babysitting young kids for his new co-workers
God bless her pure little soul
It is horrifying what has happened, but at 41:40 Isnt that kind of a hasty conclusion? Yes, they have with relative certainty shown that the fibers found belonged to the little girl. however, it is confirmed that they had both been at the same party, so fibers could have transferred from e.g. a couch to his clothes and then into the car. It is circumstantial evidence at best. Similarly the timing, talking to kids at the party, the 'vulgar remarks towards females at the party', washing and previous convictions. It paints an ugly picture, but it is all not hard evidence.
I guess that is the disadvantage (or in case he really is guilty, advantage) of a jury.
