A tragic incident occurred at Lynn Canyon in North Vancouver, as a 17-year-old boy fell to his death on Sunday. According to sources, the teen ignored warning signs and climbed past a broken fence before losing his footing and falling approximately 150 feet into the canyon. Originally from Ontario, the young man was set to begin classes at the University of British Columbia in the coming week. The circumstances surrounding his fall serve as a reminder of the dangers of disregarding safety precautions in natural settings. This is a heartbreaking loss for the community and a sobering reminder of the importance of adhering to safety guidelines in outdoor recreational areas.

How very sad.
At least another person on the wait list can now attend the University.
My heart goes out to his friends and family. And to him.
This is a lesson for all, one wrong move and it’s the difference between life and death. Sad, condolences to his family and friends

My condolences to the family
More stupid prizes. Sigh.
How sad. This news came to us as we were packing up OUR 17-year-old's belongings for his move into residence at UBC tomorrow. It was unfortunate for this young man to not heed the warnings…Our prayers go out to the family of this young man, to his friends who were travelling with him, their parents and those students at UBC who were assigned a dorm room with or next to this young man. They too will be shaken up by this tragedy as they begin a new academic year.😥
this is so unfortunate event. my prayers to the family
Just because you got into university doesn’t mean you are smart.

Comments are harsh. He was 17. Prayers for his friends and family. This hit hard, made me cry.

I guess he wasn't very smart after all….. 😣
I grew up near Lynn Canyon Park, and know people who have lost their life there.. The Fences are there for a reason: Lynn Canyon claims a life almost every a year. It is a beautiful park, BUT mother Nature is ruthless, if you do not follow the rules.
We are all a lil to close to the edge right now
Well that kind of sucks I guess he won't be doing that again.😮
So much attention to people who do not consider the risks of ignoring warning signs, and too little attention to students who are attentive to their studies and working to change the world with new technologies? It's a tragedy, but Global News prefers to broadcast this type of news to what other students can actually achieve,
His life wasted for a selfie. Maybe not one of the smart ones… fate takes care of those guys. Sorry for his family though.
With respect to his family.
I am never shocked nore surprised when I hear a fool and a life can not be combined.
Howcome these University students have no smarts? 😂 or is it common sense 🤔
Just keeps happening.
I was young once and I was less aware of dangers back then.
Theirs a fence for a reason.
