Our Boat is Stuck in Maritime Purgatory: A Journey of Curiosity and Tradition
In their latest adventure, Jason and Nikki Wynn of Gone With the Wynns take us behind the scenes of a unique maritime dilemma. For months, their beloved boat has been caught in a limbo — a struggle between government regulations and the age-old traditions of the sea. This week, they share the thrilling details of their boat’s secret life and reveal her new name, steeped in personal meaning.
In a world where curiosity fuels every journey, the Wynns remind us that navigating the waters of bureaucracy can be just as challenging as ocean currents. As they attempt to rename their boat, they face the superstitions of sailors who warn against such changes. We discover through their experiences that renaming a vessel comes with its own set of rituals and responsibilities to appease both the authorities and the mystical sea gods.
Throughout the episode, the Wynns reflect on what it means to live a life of exploration and connection. From the importance of self-reliance and sustainable living while off-grid to the cherished relationships formed with strangers in remote places, their ethos revolves around curiosity and adventure.
Join them on this captivating journey as they delve deep into the maritime tradition, reveal the meaning behind their boat’s new name, and share the amusing challenges that come with it.
Tune in for both the laughter and the lessons learned along the way — and perhaps find inspiration to embark on your own adventure!

You have made a wonderful choice with thought and purpose! The integrity that the two of you possess is truly remarkable!!! I'm looking forward to what adventures the future has in-store for you. 👍👍
Great name.
Love the Name. She is a Beauty.
Well named. Onwards and upwards. Happy to come boatsit while you are away.. 😂
I love the name Yeti. Just leave it and save yourself a headache. Besides, you may think that Poseidon holds a grudge, so does Sasquatch! P. S. I love Undra too.
Maybe you also need to get some floats for your cameras? I have heard that the superstition about changing boat names may have originally been started by the government – so pirates and smugglers didn't charge their names so frequently and they could keep track of them more easily! Great name! Did you think about not registering in the US? Or would that make things even more tricky?
Undra, an amazing name! Happy boating! 😊❤😊
Groovy episode. Love the new boat name.
I was convinced before I heard the new name. Maybe don’t change the name.?Then I heard the new name. Yeti seems much better.
Need an underwater drone to find that camera 🙂
I hope she doesn't go Undra – sounds like a prophecy so I'm not a fan guys and quite an ugly sounding word.
I think it’s great – happy curiosity curing
So we are all casually accepting of paganism now? Pathetic.
Perfect Name
She is your Baby now
So, you'll be conning Undra to the tUNDRA?
Great name for a great boat, Undra! If you add a 't' at the beginning you get a 'tundra', which you are so eager to explore. Also, in old Romanian language… December used to be called 'Undrea', so another word to match your 'winterish' realm ahead. Envy you, guys. Stay safe!
Have you guys never read the Odyssey? Yup don’t P off Poseidon… NEVER!!!
I love the new name. Undra… I'm from Sweden. 🙂
Undra drifts where quiet waters gleam,
a name born softly from a wanderer’s dream.
She carries whispers of the ancient sea,
of hidden worlds and what a soul can be.
No storm can claim her, no shadow stays,
for Undra moves in her own timeless ways.
A vessel of wonder, of stories untold—
a gentle myth carved in silver and gold.
Wherever she sails, horizons unfold,
and hearts grow braver, and spirits bold.
For Undra is more than a name on the tide—
she is the journey, the wind at your side. Wally.
LOVE the name – seriously – LOVE IT!! UNDRA!
Must admit, I'm a purist (and very superstitious) about retaining a boat's name. But, if you do it right with Poseidon (and probably offer him a good half a glass of rum), he may well relent and give you fair winds and following seas.
Undra is a verb, stupid name for boat.
Curiosity is a noun. Undra is a verb. For boat names it is okay to do a nounification of verbs. Nice choice! Undra is distinctively female, similar to Huldra.
Undra, easy to say and spell and interesting history and meaning … it will grow on us but it is a little odd at the moment.
I hope Jason finds that camera in that icy water 🥶
Love the name!
Uniform
November
Delta
Romeo
Alfa
I love the new boat name!
Curious what’s under yeti? Undra! Meant to be. It’s a great name. Thanks for letting us in on the secret. Felt like a cute reveal party. Congratulations again on your new boat.
A beautiful name for a beautiful boat 🙂👌😎
If you are going to take the boat up the Swedish east coast, don't miss Gotland and Visby, such a beautiful city with a lot of history.
Greetings from a Swede 😎
I love the new name. Great choice! Hello from Ottawa, Canada 🇨🇦
I would have stuck with Yeti. And if you camera had metal on it just use a big magnetic 🧲 and a string to find it! i have dropped tools into the water while working on a boat. and that's is how i found them, and found other stuff while i was there! 👍
I love the new name
An entire video just about the new name 🙁
I love both Undra and Yeti!
1:30 A very beautiful, modern yacht. It’s like a tall, blond, blue-eyed officer who has retired from the Air Force. He no longer wears the uniform, but you can still see the strength in him, the toughness, and the way people instinctively step aside as he passes.
I like it.
Well, if nothing else they Australians are absolutely gonna love the name!
Copy and block out the names and reprint.
When in Svalbard you could meet up/collab with another youtuber @CeciliaBlomdahl who normally resides in Swalbard
Love the name
Undra sounds too close to under…. which is a very concerning name for anything but a sub
Love love love the name. Elegant and meaningful
Great name
We've been sitting on this secret for months. Now that it's out, what do you think of the name? And more importantly, do you think Poseidon is going to let it slide, or is the camera sacrifice just the beginning? 🔱🌊Go to https://surfshark.com/wynns or use code WYNNS at checkout to get 4 extra months of Surfshark VPN!
