Title: Analyzing Trump’s Tactical Stalling: Insights from Professor Mehran Kamrava on the Iran Deal
In a recent discussion on Times Radio, Professor Mehran Kamrava, a distinguished scholar in Government at Georgetown University in Qatar, provided a critical analysis of Donald Trump’s recent approach to negotiations regarding the Iran nuclear deal. Kamrava suggests that Trump’s tactics are emblematic of his overarching negotiating style, echoing principles laid out in his own book, “The Art of the Deal.”
Professor Kamrava noted a “genuine discrepancy” in some of the specifics surrounding the Iran negotiations, pointing to tactics that align with Trump’s historical penchant for leveraging ambiguity to gain advantages in discussions. This, he argues, is not merely a coincidence but a strategic maneuver consistent with Trump’s established modus operandi.
By deliberately stalling talks, Trump may be aiming to reshape the conditions to his advantage, manipulating the narrative and the stakes involved. Kamrava emphasized that such tactics can serve to create pressure and uncertainty, which are often essential elements in Trump’s negotiation playbook.
The discussion highlighted not only the intricacies of international diplomacy but also the personal style that Trump has brought to the table. Kamrava’s observations offer listeners a nuanced understanding of how power dynamics operate in high-stakes negotiations, particularly under the influence of a leader known for his unconventional strategies.
As the situation evolves, the implications of Trump’s tactics will be watched closely by analysts and policymakers alike, underscoring the ongoing complexities in U.S.-Iran relations.

Trump has the negotiating skills of a 2-year-old! He makes everything up!
Surely more Mousetrap vs Buckaroo?
Isreal told him not to sign any deal. Watch the stock market next week as it'll go up n down for maximum profit to TACO and cronies just before he signs the agreement at the very last hour
He's negotiating the terms of his surrender. He defied the military experts and now it's another humiliating defeat for the USA.
Hello miss you are on camera
Although for no reason from the side
Poker and Chess are waaaay to complicated for Trump. More like Checkers.
I think this guy is nuttily out of touch with reality . Trump is not NEARLY as smart as this professor seems to think. Trump does not plan ahead, he does nto have any strategy. He cannot even state any goals. He just pulls something out of his rear end at that point in time and tomorrow it will be something else.
Trump in his second return has done more damage than all the 5 presidents of America combine.
Clinton (Lewensky scandal), Bush (no WMD), Obama (pro AIPAC), Trump 1 (Mexican Wall) & Biden (dementia).
The more this drags on the more I've come to think that if I were on the Iranian side, I would make a point of pressing for Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon and imposition of a ceasefire there, as a condition for serious talks. The reason being that Israel is a regional player and a wildcard that can be reined in by the US if it chooses to do so. So as a test of whether the US is able to go that distance to forestall Israeli attacks, I would insist on seeing that evidence of serious commitment to stability.
I thought Donnie played 3D chess. 🤣🤣
He wants a few more rounds to play the markets
Iran has won!!!
Uh, time is on USA side. One economy is maintaining, the other has no economy at all pretty much.. and Iran will run out of oil storage in weeks time
Netanyahu does not want a deal so Trump will not make a deal.
In the meantime, an insider trading bonanza continues.
America sent two real estate idiots to negotiate.
I got a decent deal on a really nice EV Chevy Equinox RS yesterday!
(Free charging at work) I'm still working on food.
…I have bow tie puddle lights!
@4:28 (who's going to blink first). This was strange analysis to me. Hezbollah leader Nasrallah famously said "you love life, we love the opposite. That's how we're going to win." The Iranian leadership has shared that belief system. In that context, what does "blink" really mean? Just playing the game, not serious surrender, reform? "Winning" by getting your opponent to care more than you do, be more sincere than you are?
At the end the guy said Iranians don't Iranians want to "come in from the cold," (not be a pariah state). Is that a majority? The younger generation? If so, it would seem like there is a huge gap between them and the traditionalists (who affiliated with Nasrallah's beliefs). I don't think it's anywhere near a majority. I think Nasrallah's views are part of the wider belief system which seems to prevail. There's not a lot of moderation wherever the belief system prevails. At best, brutal dictators run things and maintain something more moderate than Nasrallah's positions (shared by Iran's leadership). But, hardly more moderate (when Khashoggi was carried out in multiple bags). Or, Jordan's dictatorship murdered 10s of thousands of palestinians who rightfully believed Jordan was their land (1970, not so long ago. Today that's mildly referred to as "the era of regrettable events.").
I just think there's a much larger corner that needs to be turned in this regard.
More like go fish
Republicans talking points:
Iran’s military has been decimated, no navy, no air force
Reality- strait is still closed,5 extremely expensive US drones shot down in the last 5 days ( May 26 to May 31).
Irans economy is close to complete collapse
Reality- republicans claim China just signed a $300 billion deal with Iran
This will be a two week excursion
Reality- now over 10 weeks
We will accept nothing but “unconditional” surrender
Reality- negotiations are continuing
The US cannot go back to a massive bombing campaign on Iran. It would drain their resources completely and they would have nothing left for years to come. They're globally in an incredibly weak position and try to cover that with posture and an incidental attack on Iran out of spite. They've lost massively, their hegemonic empire has ended and Trump is the main responsible for it. He's a massive failure on any count, except self enrichment.
Trump is a buffer and a puffer.
Oh please, at best Trump is playing go fish
