US President Donald Trump is once again making headlines with his latest trade policy announcement. During a press conference on Air Force One, Trump revealed his intention to impose a 25 percent tariff on all steel and aluminum imports into the United States. This move comes as part of his ongoing efforts to protect American industries and jobs.
This decision follows previous tariffs imposed by Trump during his first term, which have already sparked retaliatory measures from countries like China. The President’s aggressive stance on trade has been a key component of his administration’s agenda, and his latest move is likely to further escalate tensions with trade partners.
The question on many people’s minds is: what is Trump’s aim with these tariffs? Some believe that by imposing higher tariffs on steel and aluminum imports, the President hopes to boost domestic production and reduce reliance on foreign suppliers. This move could potentially create more jobs in the US steel industry and strengthen the country’s economic independence.
However, critics argue that such tariffs could have negative consequences, including higher prices for consumers and potential retaliation from trading partners. The global economy is intricately interconnected, and any disruptions to international trade could have far-reaching implications.
As discussions around Trump’s latest tariff plans continue, it remains to be seen how this will impact the global economy and trade relations between the United States and other countries. The situation is rapidly evolving, and all eyes are on how Trump’s trade policies will shape the future of international commerce.

How would BRICS affect the US?
Central to this ongoing situation is the US trade war with China, as well as US sanctions on China and Russia. Should the BRICS nations establish a new reserve currency, it would likely significantly impact the US dollar, potentially leading to a decline in demand, or what's known as de-dollarization.
tyrant need more tariffs so he can buy Greenland and Gaza
dear guest, the question was HOW……dear host, stop letting the guests ignore the questions and just move on.
This emburdened most US steel using industry during Trump 1.0 from nail making to construction and machine manufacturing and it will do that this time too. As for his plan, he doesn’t have one that holds water.
That expert want people to be in debt so they can spent money on Americans expensive junk truly amercian culture enjoy life by taking debt from banks 😅😅😅😅
Why can countries like Australia with higher wages than US workers make steel cheap enough to export to US? Maybe the US steel industry needs to become more efficient. The US has a 22B export surplus to Australia, how sensible is levying more tariffs on imports from countries like Australia when any retaliatory tariffs would hurt US much more. Trump should be asking why US citizens buy imported goods, no doubt they are cheaper, they might also be better than US made or alternatives may not be available. For example Ozempic the drug for example has a huge market in US but is only made in Europe.
China is so much cleverer than mercantalist Trump.
Why is he sucking up his drool after speaking a sentence?
He needs revenue to balance out tax cuts, duh.
Talking rubbish,chi
China will tell Trump to piss off.
Americans. Who else?
China is no push over … proceed at own risk … Every action / reaction has been calculated …
Tariffs are a tax the US importer pays and will be added to the consumer goods. It will make everything in the US more expensive.
America will stan alone. no imports no exports.
Again half truths… tariffs (Zoelle) from the EU against the US for American cars are 10 percent while the US charged only 2.5 percent for cars out of the EU… and that if the US is allowed to import them because of imposed regulation…and it is similar with other products… everybody in Germsny knows what "Zoelle" are… they are tariffs… it is a massive trade deficit nobody at DW wants to talk about… again, misinformation is not journalism
That will hurt Germany and zollern steelplant that Prince Georg Fredrich owns
Why 25% only? Raise it to 1,000 % trump😂.
I have never picked anything up that said made in the usa. its all made in china or Japan . we had the best steel in the world Sheffield steel until the governments let the steel mills rust . 🇬🇧
China can live without any US products but the US cannot live without Chinese products.
China might be willing to buy American goods if they are cheaper than Chinese. Everything USA tries to sell is too expensive for the quality.
I hope that the rest of the world (without USA) starts to trade between each other.
We make steel and aluminum here why should we buy other peoples products
Completely new vector of development. Hello, puppets😂
Doesn't anybody want to impress Jodie Foster any more?
Tbf the US importing almost 90% of its steel is a legitimate national security risk
This is insane so that is why Trump told the Japaneses to buy more coal and LNG… Quite a smart move tbh also isn't Japan buying US steel too? Hmmm this might be a 200IQ move to switch the playgrounds around I can't believe Trump is capable of thinking about such… explicit plans. HUGE chances it will cause major backlash but hey if it works then kudos to him, cuz obv I can see what is he trying to do and I expect every single decent economist can see his plans too.
