2 in Hospital, Dozens Displaced After Massive Fire at North Vancouver Seniors’ Complex
A devastating fire erupted at the Silverlynn Apartments, a seniors’ living complex located in the Lynn Valley area of North Vancouver, on Saturday afternoon, leaving two individuals hospitalized and approximately 60 to 70 residents displaced. The incident unfolded rapidly, generating a significant plume of smoke that was visible across a wide section of the city.
The ferocity of the fire prompted an immediate response from emergency services. District of North Vancouver Fire Chief Mike Danks reported that more than 60 firefighters from all three North Shore fire departments were deployed to tackle the flames. Firefighters utilized every apparatus available in an all-out effort to bring the situation under control.
Despite the scale of the fire, a glimmer of good news emerged: all residents of the complex were accounted for, thanks largely to the swift action of emergency responders. Efforts to assist the displaced residents are ongoing as local agencies work to provide temporary housing and support through this challenging time.
As the community comes to terms with the aftermath of this tragedy, many will undoubtedly reflect on the resilience needed to recover from such a harrowing event. Further information about the fire and ongoing support efforts for those affected will continue to unfold as investigations proceed.

Horrendous to witness. Thankfully no major injuries, particularly in that the structure was a seniors facility . Thanks to all who were successful in containing the fire .

All wood structure what do you expect. Many devastating fires across the country with this type of construction.
Bless these marvellous firefighters. 💖💖💖
Density they say, sell the land and condos to foreigners they say
All the seniors must live and relocate to concrete buildings, not wooden ones. 😮
It is sad that the people of the one the richest countries live in poverty and old and smelly and dangerous places 😢.
Another wood frame apartment complex? Sure looks like it from these pictures.
They may be alive but have lost their life's possessions which are so important at that stage of life.
It looks like there was vinyl siding, which is one of the well-known fire accelerators. It's plastic.
If there was foam insulation used, then twice the amount of fire acceleration.
The smoke tells me I could be correct.
Thankfully everyone got out, but this type of construction shouldn't be used where people who already have mobility issues are in.
Prayers for all concerned.
“Apparatus” 🙄 ….. just talk like a normal person
I heard that trump invade canada🎉
These guys are super heroes. Hope everyone's safe. 🙏🏽
Travis Prasad not to be mistaken for Dhaliwal Smith 🙂
Good news with the no casualties and containing the fire.
Aging buildings. Who owns it? Chinese?
Guessing it will be replaced with expensive condos
It is wonderful everyone escaped and the rescuers…amazing people.
This needs to be investigated fully and it’s very suspicious…
I hope the seniors are relocated quickly and I think the seniors home should help pay for emergency funds for their customers.
