In a world where the battle for free speech on college campuses is becoming increasingly prevalent, the University of Austin, or UATX, is taking a stand against what some may call the “censorship culture” that has pervaded many educational institutions. This groundbreaking approach has caught the attention of the iconic news program “60 Minutes,” known for its hard-hitting investigative reports and in-depth interviews.
With its inaugural class of 92 students, UATX is setting itself apart by focusing on free speech and critical thinking, values that have been labeled by some as “anti-woke.” In a society where differing opinions are often silenced or dismissed, UATX is providing a platform for open and respectful dialogue.
As “60 Minutes” delves into the mission and methods of UATX, viewers can expect to gain a deeper understanding of the school’s commitment to upholding the principles of free speech and intellectual diversity. Whether you agree with UATX’s approach or not, the conversation surrounding college censorship culture is an important one to have in today’s ever-changing social and political landscape.
To stay updated on this thought-provoking story and more groundbreaking reporting from “60 Minutes,” be sure to subscribe to their YouTube channel and follow them on social media. Let’s continue to support and engage with platforms that prioritize free speech and the exchange of ideas.

It's about time!!
Thank goodness finally there’s some pushback hopefully this world regains it center
This was a great 60 minutes interview. For those claiming there is no free speech problem on college campuses, try expressing a conservative perspective. Heck, just try saying you support Israel. I remember a Vice interview a few years back about stand up comedy on college campuses with students also concerned about free speech. Universities have become Orwellian institutions ran by puritanical academics. There doesn't seem to be a problem because most students just want to keep their mouth shut so they don't get ostracized by their peers.
Wouldn't waste time on 60 minutes anymore now that we know they edit video to push a leftist agenda.
If you want to have an idea of the extent of the phenomenon described by Nial Ferguson (with hard facts), read The Cancelling of the American Mind by Greg Lukianoff. He shows, with actual and measurable figures as well as striking examples, that these times are worse than under McCarty (and by all metrics). Then read the gaslighting attempts in the comments – true denial of the actual censorship and attacks of freedom of speech.
I walked away from a 15 year tenured gig two years ago….because of this. I'm glad the mainstream media is catching up and thanks!
Bernie isn’t far left.
AOC, Chuck Shchumer, Nancy Pelosi are far left
Colleges haven't become liberal. Liberals are just correct on most things, so educated people tend to be liberal.
This is actually insane. It's a fake university
do one on pragerU next!
This is great news. I hope they're a success. Why not?
How much did Bari Weiss pay you for this segment?
This is just anti-woke Kamp Krusty.
UATX is nonsense. Its whole premise is a conservative talking point. No one seems to find it odd that it’s funded by millionaires and billionaires who hate that young students don’t agree with them. No one seems to remember that Weiss made her name trying to get professors at Columbia she disagreed with fired.
Nice segment on Grifter U
This university is "anti-woke" because it cherishes free speech
So they want DEI for conservative viewpoints? They’re arguing for minority rights
…
Hmmm
i dunno if this will be successful lol
The president of my alma mater sent an email to alumni. She mentioned that the college had created safe spaces for those distraught by the 2016 election. It showed me how far left the school had shifted over the years.
I am so happy that there is a college out there fighting this stuff. As someone who has friends that are in college currently (I would go to school but can’t afford to go), they are constantly telling me stories about how their teachers are preaching a political agenda & indoctrination rather than TEACHING A DEGREE. And they wonder why people are feeling entitled to jobs just because they showed up to a class… but don’t have any work outside of that to show for it because they were too busy “fighting for social causes” that have nothing to do with what they went to school for.
I'm happy that Austin finally has a place of higher education.
Bravo to this school! I hope they're a huge success and can set an example for civility and reasonable discussion on a college campus; many don't know what those things mean anymore.
Very well done segment! Thank you.
I feel so bad for professionals who have to work with people in their 20s.
If there were anyone worth their salt at 60 Minutes the story about college bias would've been done 20 years ago.
The extreme left has destroyed higher education in this country. It is a scam, their endowments should be taxed.
This is how we win y'all!
Students don't want hate and white supremacy on their campuses, THAT'S what "Conservatives" bring. Tell the TRUTH!
It's interesting that a once respected show like 60 Minutes is doing a segment on the very ideology that ruined their own reputation and credibility. And that complete lack of self-awareness is destined to make sure it isn't going to course correct anytime soon. Bye CBS.
Obama. That is what happened 10 years ago.
The Texas Stock Exchange, UATX and the march continues forward towards TEXIT and Texas Independence!
Graduated college in 2009, then again for a medical degree in 2024. This problem is real… I had classmates trying to get me in trouble / cancel for 2008 Obama era democrat political positions. Dont even get me started about the gender issues, which are absolutely unscientific and rooted in feelings.
3:51 shoutout to Michael Knowles!
I’ll trust this currently unaccredited university when I see some good research from it
Brad Garlinghouse:
Crypto made its debut on
@60Minutes
tonight – there’s no doubt that these technologies will continue to become more and more mainstream – with influence and reach that will only continue to grow.
A few things I do want to comment on after watching:
I spoke with Margaret Brennan / 60Minutes for 90+ min straight. When discussing the SEC’s misguided lawsuit against Ripple, 60Minutes shockingly left out that a Federal Judge ruled that XRP is not a security…Gensler’s shill (John Reed Stark) knows better despite his comments that 60Minutes chose to air.
Lastly, to say crypto has no utility is exactly what the naysayers said about the Internet in its earliest days – that it’s nothing more than illicit activity. How vastly they were proven wrong. Today, even JPMorgan is coming around on blockchain… (conveniently 60Minutes also failed to mention that Ripple is doing billions of dollars of KYC-ed transactions for our institutional customers – leveraging XRP to move money cross-border more efficiently than traditional payment rails.)
Who cares…it's not UT-Austin.
cool but lame
Can somebody explain to me in good faith exactly what the problem is? Watched the video and I still don’t know what the censorship is. If they are talking about the student protests, that’s incredibly normal and is not censorship. Ironically, silencing the protests would itself be censorship.
The media needs to stop being lazy! Conservative do not want to get PhD’s. That is why they are not a lot of faculty
Western civ is built upon the skeptical pursuit of truth. …..unless thentide changes western civ will fall…. much like England.
This looks like a great school. We will be touring UATX.
This needs to turn into more of a Plato's symposium where intellects from around the world gather to discuss ideas – no credits – no degree- no rigid hierarchy just the pursuit of knowledge among intelligent individuals.
Why are smartphone and laptop banned if it focus on free speech?
What I find intersting is that the message from current conversatives is that all young kids should be going into the trades and that liberal art studies are a waste of money but this university (as of right now) is 90% liberal arts studies aside from an economics degree (still not accreditied) and computing/data science.
Those people all have the same general ideologies
