After Russian strikes on Kharkiv: US and Ukraine to hold talks in Saudia Arabia
In the wake of the recent Russian attacks on Kharkiv, tensions between the US, Ukraine, and Russia continue to escalate. America’s top diplomat, Marco Rubio, has emphasized President Donald Trump’s commitment to bringing an end to the conflict in Ukraine as soon as possible. In a call with Ukraine’s foreign minister, Rubio stressed the importance of all parties taking steps towards securing a sustainable peace.
Furthermore, President Trump is reportedly considering imposing new sanctions and tariffs on Russia following its latest assault on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. The attacks have led to at least 8 people being injured and numerous buildings being damaged in Kharkiv. The Ukrainian air force managed to intercept and destroy over 67 missiles and 200 drones launched by Russia during the overnight attack on several regions in Ukraine.
Amidst the ongoing conflict, Ukraine’s President Zelenskyy has stated that communication with Washington remains ongoing. In light of these developments, the US and Ukraine are set to engage in talks in Saudi Arabia next week in an effort to address and resolve the escalating situation.
As tensions in the region continue to rise, it is evident that diplomatic efforts are crucial in finding a peaceful resolution to the conflict. The international community will be closely watching the outcomes of the upcoming talks between the US and Ukraine, with hopes for a de-escalation of the crisis.

Trump should continue to support Ukraine. Because the Russian leader Putin is misunderstanding Trump's will. Putin started thinking Trump is on his side, so he may not think about considering talking for peace. Trump should draw a line to stop Putin's wrong ideas right now. If Putin continues this war, the US should give Ukraine more weapons, and there will be more defense spending. And then Trump's administration can't cut off the US's huge defense budget. He should carry out his presidential promises if he doesn't want to be blamed by US nationals. He said that if he becomes the next leader of the US, he'll finish this war within a short time. Unfortunately, this war is ongoing.
He's probably only saying he'll sanction them to sound like he's balanced, but he probably won't do it. He's full on pro-Russia.
Why is rasha attacking old people like indians
The clown is just acting again, no way he gonna sanction Putin. Putin owns him. He is just trying to deflect attention from his KGB spy identity
As an American I truly hope the rare mineral deal does not happen. Just write it off as a loss. I don’t want my country involved with Ukraine in the future. Peace will not last in Ukraine.
Funny how Ukraine gets slammed after Trump pulled intelligence and stopped all help …Trumps only in it for the 500 billion he hoeps to get from Ukraine..don't trust the yanks..
Still not able to figure out what exactly is the vision of President Trump through his acts of intimidation and creating unnecessary conflicts situation with countries, except looks like for his mad desire to become an authoritarian ruler, instilling fear through bullying. All this cursing, toxic peeches nothing inspiring. Not surprising why he so fascinated with Rowdy regimes only But he should remember he is too old also.
Trump can't speak without making threats.
Don't take Trump's threat of more sanctions lightly. These are the REAL sanctions that would induce Putin a heart attack.
Trump is a liar and a hater. He intends to get revenge on anybody who he thinks has wronged him. He hates a lot of people and doesn't care who he has to harm to get to them. He thinks Zelensky did wrong by him and he is willing to sacrifice the whole of Ukraine to get to Zelenskyy, even if Zelenskyy quits the Presidency. There is no outcome that Trumps supporters arrange that will not result in the destruction of Ukraine. They have no choice to fight on and the EU countries willing to assist need to stop equivocating and act to assist Ukraine.
The only way to end the war is to put more pressure on Russia by sanctioning the oil buyers from Russia and providing alternatives to those buyers. Lift sanctions on Venezuela oil exports, pump more oil from US and canada. Sell that to europe, india and china, so that they dont have a reason to buy from Russia. Tou cant ask those countries to stop buying oil without alternatives. Democrats failed there. But Trump can do as his policy is Drill Baby Drill.
shame shame shame on trump
Trumps America is Russia's puppet that has lost any Trust it had with it's once allies.
sanctions and tariffs are totally empty threats and he knows it. US did less than $3B of trade with Russia last year
This DW news same report in gaza against Israel
Europe is spending more money buying energy from Russia than giving aid to Ukraine. That’s why Obiden blew up Nordstream. This war is about destroying Russia…
Trump leading the US is total madness, one moment he says one thing, the next he says another, one moment he does one thing, the next he does something different, he seems more like a crazy person than a president.
DW is getting funding from Sudan
Trump could win elections in Russia
More sanctions?😂
What on earth for?😂
Ukraine must not trust Trump…he is so unstable. He believes that he can stop Putin but it is not the case… In Putin's eyes…Trump just a small a one year old kid…
I can still hear Trump say, "the europeans did it all so bad, i gonna fix it all in 24 hours". weeks later nothing has happened….
Lying.
Yup, Ukraine and the world appreciate sanctioning Russia (again because of its agression)
THE USA IS A JOKE . NOT WELÇOM IN EUROPE
WhyTrump no end Israeli and Palestine war?
in the oval office, Elensky said they were fighting alone since the start of the war. so us actions should not have any impact then 🤷
Great interview. We need a Ceasefire and for peace to prevail . Both Ukraine and Russia must be willing to give up a little and take a little from each other in a fine gesture of negotiating to bring peace to end the war. I trust the meeting in Saudi Arabia will produce positive results. Keep up the good work at DW.
