In a last-minute agreement between Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and U.S. President Donald Trump, a potential trade war between the two nations has been temporarily put on hold. The agreement, centered around a border security plan that Canada will implement, has resulted in a 30-day pause on tariffs that were looming over the automotive industry and other sectors. David Akin delves into how Trudeau and Trump were able to reach a compromise, how Canada plans to secure its border to satisfy Trump, and whether this agreement will have a lasting impact on the uncertain trade situation.
Canada’s automotive industry, which contributes a significant $18 billion to the country’s GDP, was facing the threat of drastic reductions if Trump followed through on his tariff threats. Shallima Maharaj speaks with the owner of a vehicle component manufacturing company about the potential consequences for his livelihood and the industry as a whole.
Meanwhile, many Canadians have taken to protesting the proposed tariffs by making changes to their shopping lists and travel plans in order to avoid purchasing American goods and visiting destinations in the U.S. Heather Yourex-West examines the effectiveness of the “Buy Canadian” pledge and how it could potentially influence consumer behavior in light of the trade tensions between Canada and the U.S.
The agreement between Trudeau and Trump has brought a temporary reprieve to the escalating trade tensions, but the future remains uncertain as negotiations continue. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing situation. For more information, visit the link provided.

I will still boycott US products no matter what! Trump you are a coward, liar. who do you think you are to tell us what to do?, …dream on!
Drumph be playing his followers 😂
If Trudeau really wanted to combat crime he'd throw himself & his whole cabinet in jail…
I wonder if it had anything to do with the NYSE heading straight to the toilet as the stock market sells off !!!!
Can't we keep our natural resources, purchase within Canada, and refine within Canada? What would it take for this to happen? The US should not be getting our resources at bargain basement prices either. Canadians can get the discounts on our natural resources; they can pay full price. Do we really need more selection at grocery stores? The unhealthy food that they send is poison compared to what we make here in Canada for much of it. Junk food and alcohol. It's not necessities.
Ha ha ha laughable to say if not a make it difference then what?? Canada is in huge trouble! Canada must sure that will make a difference it’s simple as it is
Trump is playing everybody…… it's what he's always done. This is all about feeling powerful and right now he's on top of the world.
I bet these tariffs never happen……. that's just the feeling I've had since he started threatening them.
Guess well see.
Trudeau is a weak MP, he just wants power, and what’s a selfish. He has been insulted by Trump. Again, he still grabs power. For the interest of the nation, call for election now.
Getting a drug Czar to a nonexistent problem (or at least a minor one)… Way to go Canada…
He's backing down….he's full of shat …..
All a game
Canada behave like a dog to his owner (US)😂
It's about the dollar and war with Iran
Nothing to do with drugs
Canada and Mexico will need to use that 30 days to diversify away from the U.S. For sure after 30 days the U.S will find another excuse for tariff and new demands. That is how bullies operate.
Trudeau has done a lot more to butcher our economy / inflation / 62 billion deficit and should just GO AWAY before these 30 days are up. This is a dangerous precedent – declaring a group as "terrorists" just because you want to have more policing powers.
Not our problem as the people, deal with it so called leaders
Let's be clear. Trump told Canada they dont want usa car plants in ontario they dont want lumber and they dont want our oil. Very good. Why didnt he say that earlier. Turns out our new best friend CHINA wants it all and we will ship it to them gladly.
Boycott is sustainable because Trump is good at promoting threats. It is impossible for Trump to shut up his bluffing.
Liberals and NDP will only spend our tax money to legalize drugs, illegal immigrants to be political correct. Time to vote a leader who can really focus on growing strong economy and priotize our tax money on canadian tax payers.
I was fram india but i would fie for canada, long live canada….❤
