Title: Tensions Mount as US and Russia Engage in High-Stakes Peace Talks on Ukraine Conflict
In a bold diplomatic move, Russian President Vladimir Putin welcomed a U.S. delegation to the Kremlin for crucial discussions aimed at resolving the ongoing war in Ukraine. The meeting, which included U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and former President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, focused on a revised 28-point peace plan that had previously drawn criticism for aligning too closely with Russian interests.
The context for these talks cannot be overstated. With the conflict entering its crucial stages, Ukraine has not only expressed reservations about the original proposal but has also tentatively indicated support for the new draft, signaling a possible shift in its negotiating stance. The Kremlin, for its part, has characterized the discussions as “useful,” though it remains steadfast in its refusal to compromise on territorial issues that are central to the conflict.
As global attention turns to Moscow, experts have weighed in on the implications of these negotiations. John Hardie from the Foundation for Defense of Democracies highlighted the complexities of aligning both NATO and Ukraine’s objectives with any potential agreement. He pointed out the delicate balance the U.S. must maintain to ensure its support for Ukraine does not waver while also engaging with Russian demands.
Political scientist Mikhail Alexeev of San Diego State University emphasized the challenges ahead. “The historical context of territorial disputes in this region cannot be understated,” he stated, noting that any agreement that fails to address these concerns could lead to further escalations rather than peace.
Orysia Lutsevych, head of the Ukraine Forum at Chatham House, underscored the importance of international support for Ukraine during this negotiation phase. She warned that a deal perceived as yielding to Russian territorial claims could have far-reaching repercussions for the stability of Eastern Europe.
As the world watches, the coming days will be critical. The U.S. must navigate its dual options carefully: either continue to push for a meaningful resolution that empowers Ukraine and addresses its territorial integrity, or risk a stalemate that could prolong the fighting and diminish international trust.
This watershed moment in diplomacy is poised to shape not only the future of Ukraine but also international relations for years to come as nations grapple with the consequences of this war.

Ukraine is basically leaderless with all the corruption surrounding their leader!
Everyday,i am here to listen dw expert
I’m siding with Zelenskyy and siding with Ukraine and I’m all about the Ukraine 🇺🇦
you guys stop lying about russia it's useless your only chance to save ukaina is nuclear war with russia otherwise you guys should be ashamed of yourselves👈👈👈🤣🤣🤣🇷🇺💪💪
europe is dumped by USA.
Continuing the war Russian economy will be at stake
Why does Russia wants to continue the war?
Russia ready for war? Lil gup thinks he can defeat NATO in a head on head fight when he can barely make progress in Ukraine. Sure we support Ukraine with weapons and supplies but Russia clearly doesn't have the equipment or manpower available if the enemy count and frontline length increases with fresh NATO troops. The air and naval war would also be over quickly. The only thing holding both sides back from war is nuclear bombs. If they didn't exist or if we had the tech (likely high powered lasers) to shoot them all down, Moscow would have already fallen and puppet government would be in place akin to west Germany, The road to a proper democracy basically.
There will no cease fire, either a peace deal or it will settled on the battlefield, next negotiations will be when Russia reaches the Dniper, maybe by this time next year.
I think I speak for all United States taxpayers when I say no to Ukraine. Especially after we saw all the corruption last week. The people I see making the decisions in Ukraine are not the people who are fighting in the trenches getting killed.
Russia has done enough destruction in Ukraine already and should stop
I think Russia should fight through and create a land bridge to Transnistria.
Trump and Putin had a meeting in Alaska nothing came out of it. It seems that Russia doesn't want to end the conflict
Russia have all the cards.
Hypocrisy of western media
US's two options if Russia objects to the peace negotiations : more sanctions, more weapons for Ukraine. Solved.
Not really….Still little understanding of Putin’s strength and Nato’s mistakes.
As long as the Trump administration isn't showing willingness to put more sanctions on Russia they will not have enough leverage during negotiations.
If ukraine want peace, it would accept original deal knowing it losing the battlefield and us aids. I guess just let them fight out until one has a clear win
russia coincidentally plans to invade the eu right as trump's term ends
どうなるって?ロシアは侵攻を続けて更にウクライナの領土を制圧し、アメリカはウクライナへの支援から手を引くだろうね。
It is all about USA investors making profits in Russia.
That is why Trumps deligation is real-estate representatives!
Hope Putin rejects it and lets see what 1% look after 1 year
Father Putin will get his way.
Russia hasn't tested their nukes. They dont work, the systems russia has is from the 50s outdated. Just like the towns in russia and villiages dont even have running water or electricity
Europe has always fought/ destroyed itself from within. It's difficult to see Europe uniting and forming an alliance without the US. Who knows? Europe would have to scrap zero emissions and spend on military.
The colonial Empires should just accept defeat.
when you see kushner ans his company "affinity partners" ,something bad will happen😂
An iron fist need to be raised agaist this vicious tyrant..dont chicken out…democratic freedom of the people, by the people , for the people must be won. Not vicious murders by high rise buildung falls, poisonings, trying to decimate all oppositions…this dictator must be behind bars…
Trump has never met any of his campain promises and he never will meet his promises.
Why is Steve Wackoff still there? Clearly he’s not there to negotiate. He’s there to sell out Ukraine 🤦♂️
Well Trump had deal with Putin until Europe changed it
So who changed?
Russia and The US tastes their own medicine when vetoing each other
USA needs to walk away from this mess and make deal with Russia that benefits American people
Trump is ok with any kind of winning the Russia/Ukraine war. The American public is not OK with any kind of the ending the Russia/Ukraine war. America and the Trump party do not have the same goals. СЛАВА УКРАИНА
US will never involve in direct military conflict with Russia since this would trigger a nuclear war
Putin is right. Europe wants war badly. They screwed up really badly in the past 20 years attacking straight white men in their societies. Now they don’t have the patriots they need to fight their wars of choice.
its like im watching a rerun for two years
Foudation for defense of democracias 😂😂😂😂😂
What if Russia agrees to reunification of the four oblasts if the Americans agree to Lavrov Good Friday agreement excluding Crimea that could spark civil war in Ukraine divide EU , Divide USA from NATO Divide the British and if the Russians could do that the Borderlands that Lenin founded part of the Russian empire 1918 would be reunited . and would not lose control of borders money laws and trade to EU or Ukrainian import tariff to either USA or Russia..
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
THEN RUSSIA WILL JUST KEEP TAKING MORE TERRITORY BY FORCE😂. WHOSE. GOING TO STOP THEM NOW THAT THEY ARE ON A ROLL AND ZELLY IS ABOUT TO FLEE😂
Either way the equation is the same, so why not take the equation that could make Putin a duel
You will get your war with russia. Just push a bit harder, and you will get there.
Isn't it glaringly obvious that President Trump is trying to betray Ukraine in order to secure business deals with Russia?
