Bill C-5: Landmark Legislation for Infrastructure Development Passes Senate
In a significant move for the federal government, Senators have approved Prime Minister Mark Carney’s ambitious "nation-building" legislation, known as Bill C-5. This legislation empowers the federal government with enhanced authority to expedite major infrastructure projects across Canada. The passage through the Senate follows a similarly favorable outcome in the House of Commons, where it garnered bipartisan support, notably from the Conservative Party.
Bill C-5 is characterized as a sweeping initiative aimed at addressing Canada’s pressing infrastructure needs. By streamlining processes and reducing bureaucratic hurdles, the legislation seeks to facilitate the rapid development of critical projects that could bolster the economy and improve public services. Supporters argue that the bill is a necessary step toward ensuring the timely completion of essential infrastructure, a claim that resonates with the nation’s growing demands for modernization and accessibility.
However, the legislation did not come without controversy. Some senators voiced concerns over the potential implications of granting such broad powers to the federal government, warning that it could undermine provincial autonomy and the integrity of local decision-making processes. Despite this pushback, the bill ultimately secured enough support to clear the Senate, marking a pivotal moment in Canada’s legislative landscape.
As the dust settles on the Senate’s decision, provinces across the country are now looking to capitalize on the newfound powers granted by Bill C-5. Various regional governments are expected to present their wish lists of major infrastructure projects, anticipating that the federal government’s fast-tracking will enable them to move forward with long-stalled initiatives. This shift may lead to increased investment in areas such as public transit, road maintenance, and renewable energy projects, highlighting the potential for transformative change in communities nationwide.
In the coming days and weeks, the focus will turn to the implementation of the bill and its effects on provincial collaboration with the federal government. As stakeholders assess both the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead, the successful passage of Bill C-5 stands as a testament to the ongoing evolution of Canada’s infrastructure policy—a critical component of the nation’s future growth and development.

The dictator like Trudeau gets to decide what to build. As long as they get there kickbacks. Government corruption and the rcmp courts won’t do anything.
Prime Minister Mark Carmny @01:22😅
Unless were talking about building the nation of Canada the PM can F.O.
I don't want a single Canadian penny sent to foreign countries.
"Building", because buildings collapse.
Keep those elbows up Canada……….
😂
Carney is so happy his investment group is about to get so rich!
Communism one step closer in Canada
Most people are still relieved that PP did not become the PM.
Many Canadians felt that Pierre was part of the Trudeau era and wanted to put that era behind them.
It's all self-serving. First nations will always put themselves first, looking for $. It's in all Canadians' best interest to build up this nation. The last PM did nothing but inhibit economic growth for 10 years and left the country in terrible shape. But hey, he changed the words of the anthem and legalized weed. 👏
'Cause you make me feel (Ride the PONI)

Depends on how you judge it?!? If you think that Carney works for the Canadian people and the values that they represent protecting human rights and the international rule of law, then you are about to face 4 years of being extremely disappointed.
However, if you were an international financier and you've been paying Carney on and off for the last 30 years to make him a multi-millionaire and yourself a billionaire and the multi-billionaires that they represent to become eventually trillionaires, then you would understand that Carney is doing exactly what he has been hired and paid to do so and he's killing it, literally and figuratively!!!!
The system works.
Ignore the environmentalist and the natives. I was born in Canada, my father was as well. Stop delaying progress because of the voices of ghost. The natives lost the war. Those are facts, the clock cannot and will not be turned back. Just let them cry and move on anyway.
Well, I’ll be damned if Canada is going to foot the bill to build pipelines, only to have them fight to leave. They’d better change the law regarding the right to leave, it’s INDIGENOUS people’s land. It’s part of the treaty, and it’s NOT to be tampered with. They’ve lost everything because of Sir John A Macdonald. Their culture, their family values, their ability to parent, their ability to trust, their innocence! We can’t take anymore away from them, so NO you’re NOT going to take away their land too! That was the treaty, PERIOD!
So many educated people here that apparently can save the world.
Just keep criticizing, and don't offer any solutions, thank you mensa…
Carney lies he just broke every promise to First Nations, the land animals and people of Canada. Shame on the fake liberal government who are fascist conservative garbage. Shame on everyone in the federal government who voted this land killing First Nations disrespecting bill of lies. Sugar coat it all you want but it’s still a fascist bill. Then the fools in government federal and provincial wonder why people don’t trust you. Lies , racism and disrespectful untrustworthy politicians carny is the new king of lies and fake propaganda.
He calls it nation building but he brings nothing to the table in the unity crisis. Well I guess that's a form of Nation building. Building two or more Nations out of the one that used to be Canada.
Only things will get passed what carney wants and where brookfield will get rich, in turn carney will too.
Ok, grow the country but make sure First Nations get theirvfair share. I would like to see more indigenous communities in major cities and suburbs.
Orphan wells and now this…we have one planet and major idiots ignore that.
Give us a clear path to land ownership and we will build our own damn homes.
So canadians are giving up privacy.
Thank god the senate has merely been useless in this case, rather than counterproductive and anti-democratic. It's really the best we can hope for.
Elbows up haha the east is a joke
