In a raw and haunting portrait of modern society, The Divide follows seven individuals from the US and UK as they struggle to survive — or succeed — in a world where the top 0.1% owns as much wealth as the bottom 90%.
From Wall Street psychologist Alden chasing the elusive top 1%, to Leah, a KFC worker in Virginia just trying to make it through each day, to Jen, isolated in an upscale gated community that doesn’t accept her, each story reveals how deeply economic division shapes every corner of life.
Blending personal testimony with powerful archive footage from 1979 to today, The Divide paints a lyrical, psychological, and tragicomic picture of a society fraying under the weight of inequality. Inspired by the groundbreaking book The Spirit Level, this documentary isn’t a fictional dystopia — it’s real life.
It stands as both a sobering warning and a fierce call to action: the greater the gap, the deeper the divide.

When is grandpa Soros giving us all of his money? Come on pops
Hate the way you displayed the working black American in this documentary
All praise to the Most High YAHWEH in MESSIAH name selah🙏🏽
Shalom families all over the globe🌎🌍🌏
This documentary is the absolute worst. First of all who are you trying to bring or educate awareness to? What race of people? Because Blacks in America and other parts of the continent have been mistreated, set-up economically, unjustified, unfair acts, abused, set aside, rejected, neglected, robbed, experimented on AND AND OPPRESSED since slavery and current.
We the Black people endure all painnnns. AND We pushed ON!! This documentary is for white folks crying because they can't handle what Blacks endure on purpose for centuries.
Then on your documentary when you speak on fast food, drugs and diseases you interview the Black women subliminal message once again!!!
Blacks will be just fine!! We are aware of our oppression from our oppressors the white systems. We keep going because our strengthen and power comes from above and this world is not our home. MESSIAH will come and judge the world. No I'm Prejudice or racist it's facts read your history books and go to the Library of Congress to read how the white system plotted against my culture. So if we are numb to the sob stories …it's not to be non compassionate it's our life as Black people. You see us still thriving regardless….we just keep going ON! As you should. Who felt sorry for my people? Y'all better read your bible the worst is on the way…And Black and Brown folks will continue to trust GOD YAHWEH ELOHIM IN MESSIAH name.
Shalom ✊🏿👊🏿🙏🏽🙌🏽💪🏾
🙃 How do we as people get back to some kind of “American Dream?” I’m 31 & the future isn’t looking very bright for ANYONE making less than $200k a year
Obama destroyed the USA by giving money away to lazy people because of race. And he became a multi millionaire. Living in rich white neighborhood.
He didn’t give a crap about people who work. He just wanted socialism. 😮😮😮
No such thing as “global wealth” only the western world systematically looting wealth from so called third world countries.
Meg Whitman destroyed Walmart the way she destroyed Kenya.
There is deliberate systematic inequalities holding people in poverty. In the same token, notice how the most impoverished have kids they can’t care for. If you are in poverty please don’t have kids.
What’s most striking—and deeply ironic—is that the woman felt excluded by those on the other side of the fence, even though her children had blue eyes. As if that should have granted her acceptance. Do you see how revealing that is?
That single detail speaks volumes—not just about the people who excluded her, but about what she herself believed should have made her belong.
Sie hat recht, dein Konto-Stand entscheidet darüber zu jedem, egal wem, sagen zu können..Fick dich..
Fake it till ya make it 😂 🙌🏽Amen to that 🙌🏽
I would never live in a rich neighborhood. I can't stand the snobby pathetic losers. I did well myself in life, but I hated the corporate world with all the wannabe's all around me. I couldn't wait to leave that horrible environment. I am in my mid 50's retired living very happily in a lower middle class neighborhood. I have a friend who lives in the richest neighborhood in this part of the state. He says that most of his so called rich neighbors can't afford those homes, they are up to their eyeballs in debt. We just laugh at their stupidity.
44:09 if you had congestive heart failure, then why are you still smoking and drinking beer?
Richard J. Berman, the 70 year old guy who says he is creating aka winning died in February. He says he has 4 kids under 13, the youngest 3. This is not the opposite of poor and shouldn’t looked at it as such.
if you are sick, you cannot be blamed for your poverty. all those who are healthy and poor, well, thats another story
24:33 It is NOT about "race", which does not exist biologically, but rather, INCOME bracket that determines "safety". No one wishes to live among the poor who are statistically more inclined towards crime and intoxication. It is as simple as that. Skin pigment has nothing to with it; People of means have no issue living around other wealthy people who are not European American. We segregate on INCOME in most cases (except the racist South, of course), not skin tone. Higher incomes in an area predict well-kept homes, no crime, safe neighborhoods, NO public disturbances, increased mental well-being, etc. Lower incomes are associated with the INVERSE of the above points.
As a mobile mechanic, let me just say, living behind a gate means NOTHING. You’re living next to ghetto people too, lol. Most of those people look rich but don’t have a dime in their accounts AND I can’t tell you how many times a gate attendant wrote down our names wrong lol. It’s all an illusion.
damn
this documentary is actually good

Those working, work for the idle and the rich.
