Global National: Dec. 13, 2025 – A Region Under Water and Diplomatic Winds Shifting
On December 13, 2025, the West Coast of Canada is grappling with a formidable natural disaster as floodwaters from Washington State overwhelm British Columbia, particularly the Fraser Valley region. Following a devastating atmospheric river event on Thursday, evacuation orders and alerts remain in place for hundreds of residents. With ominous forecasts predicting further rainfall, the situation appears dire, as vital infrastructure—farms, roads, and highways—continues to suffer severe damage. Access to the B.C. interior may remain obstructed for days, leaving communities in a precarious position. Taya Fast leads our coverage on the impact of this environmental crisis.
In a significant turn on the geopolitical chessboard, the United States has announced the lifting of specific trade sanctions against Belarus, a key ally of Russia. This diplomatic breakthrough comes in exchange for the release of over a hundred political prisoners, including prominent opposition figures. The implications of this deal open up a complex dialogue surrounding human rights and the global response to authoritarian regimes. Candice Cole delves into the nuanced ramifications of this engagement for both Belarus and the broader international community.
Switching from the human interest story to the wonders of nature, a groundbreaking study off the coast of British Columbia reveals surprising behavior among killer whales. For the first time, researchers have documented northern resident orcas collaborating with dolphins during hunting expeditions. This revelation sheds new light on the social intelligence of these apex predators and alters our understanding of marine ecosystems. Kylie Stanton’s report on this cooperative hunting behavior challenges previous assumptions about the dynamics of whale and dolphin interactions.
On the other side of the globe, Christmas Island, located northwest of Australia, faces an ecological threat from an unexpected source: feral cats. Originally introduced by humans, these cats are wreaking havoc on local wildlife, putting several native species at risk. A campaign aimed at reducing the feral cat population is nearing completion, but not without controversy. Some residents are urging authorities to halt the culling efforts, highlighting a clash between environmental preservation and community sentiments. Heather Yourex-West explores this contentious debate and its implications for conservation efforts.
As these stories unfold, the complexities of both environmental challenges and geopolitical shifts remind us of the interconnectedness of our world, revealing the urgent need for thoughtful responses to crises across different domains.

If there had been a flood in Ontario or Quebec in 2021, do you think the Federal government would have not done anything in 5 years to try to prevent another one? If so, I have a bridge to sell you at a great price 😂😂😂😂😂
How can Nazer donate every week?! Is it different from blood donation? We aren't allowed to donate blood that often.
Take USA to court
Shame on you NDP government and Shame on the party Leaders 🤑🤑🤯😎🤮🤮🤮
After the 2021 Fraser flood the necessary work wasn’t completed to ameliorate heavy rains
Hang in there,
kind residents of the Fraser River valley.
USA – wants tariffs on Canadian potash which is right next door. Lifts sanctions on Belarusian potash which is on the other side of the planet…. okay.
Did anyone tell TRUMP to get their water out of our country?? !!
If the Rockies just let BC drift into the pacific ocean it won't hurt my feelings
Using Weather Modification to cause Heat Domes and Atmospheric Rivers is an act of war
KNEW IT ! ! ? 😳 ITS GOT TO BE TRUMPS FAULT ! ! 👁️😃
Using Weather Modification to push the fake climate crisis hysteria is truly sinister
For every 0.10C of warming, the atmosphere holds an additional 100 billion tones of water vapor. You ain't seen nothing yet folks! 🌎 OFF GRID, Yukon, Canada.
Mother Nature continues its wrath on humans because global pollution!…
Just because you're paying taxes in a country doesn't entitled you to residency or citizenship. Where else in the world is that the case? Of course you pay taxes when you're in a foreign country, that doesn't make you a citizen there. What a nonsense argument. The easiest way to stop paying taxes in Canada is to leave Canada. Some temporary immigrants act as tho Canada owes them a new home. We don't. We have every right to control our immigration how we see fit and prioritizing the needs of our own citizens first. This entitlement is really frustrating Canadians.
But the other flooding isn't mentioned. BC is like the golden child of Canada.
Well if the states wont help, stop the flow of great lakes to the Mississippi. Youll create a drought for all those states
Also most of of water ways flow south. Just saying….
May Love & Peace Prevail In The World….
Belarus releases political dissidents in exchange for US lifting sanctions on POTASH.
Gee, that isn't blatantly obvious as he tries to replace potash from Canada – and of course, Russia hasa LOT more potash that can easily fudge its way over the border to Belarus.
RIP KANYE
BC has been forsaken by God,get out of there if you can and never go back.
