A contingent of Kenyan police officers has arrived in Haiti as protests continue to rock the streets of Nairobi. The Kenya-led UN-backed international force has been deployed to help contain the gangs that control most of the capital city, Port-au-Prince. Despite facing a legal challenge in Kenya, President William Ruto’s government has moved forward with the deployment, with the backing of the United States. However, foreign forces have a troubled history in Haiti, raising concerns about the effectiveness and implications of this latest intervention. Al Jazeera’s Teresa Bo reports on the situation as tensions escalate in Haiti amidst the arrival of the Kenyan police contingent.
