This talk, by Raya Saraireh, tells the story of a brief but deeply meaningful six-month friendship that unexpectedly shaped her life. After losing a close friend who encouraged her to pursue self-improvement and overcome her fear of public speaking, she experienced grief, loneliness, and self-doubt. Over time, she transformed that pain into motivation, rebuilding herself through fitness, new friendships, and eventually public speaking. The talk reflects on how even short-lived relationships can leave permanent emotional impact, showing that what is lost can still guide who we become. Raya Saraireh is an 8th grade iCademy student. She is extremely passionate about music and writing; she spends most of her free time writing lyrics. Her speech invites viewers to see the good in something horrible, that a painful loss can lead to growth. She speaks about losing her closest friend and how the disdain, though first felt painful and melancholic, transformed her into becoming who she is today, strong and confident.
