Kremlin Challenges US Pressure on Russian Oil Trade Amid Global Tensions
In the latest twist in international relations, the Kremlin has firmly rejected claims made by former US President Donald Trump, who suggested imposing tariffs on India for its continued purchase of Russian oil. In a statement that underscores the complexities of geopolitical dynamics, Russian officials declared it "illegal" for one nation to coerce another into halting trade with Moscow, positioning themselves as defenders of global commerce amid rising tensions following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Trump’s comments have sparked a fiery debate, particularly as they hinge on accusations that India is profiting from significant quantities of Russian oil, which it reportedly buys and resells on the open market. The former President’s rhetoric paints a picture of a global marketplace fraught with moral dilemmas and economic advantages, where nations must navigate competing interests and alliances.
In response to these assertions, New Delhi has been quick to clarify its stance, emphasizing its commitment to safeguarding national interests. The Indian government has characterized Washington’s attempts to dictate trading relationships as "unfair," highlighting a determination to maintain economic ties with Russia despite the broader international condemnation following its actions in Ukraine.
This incident further illustrates India’s careful balancing act on the global stage. Since the onset of the Ukraine conflict, India has resisted mounting pressure from the United States to distance itself from Russia, opting instead to prioritize its own economic needs and energy security. As a major consumer of energy, India’s reliance on Russian oil complicates its geopolitical strategies, leading it to navigate between major powers while ensuring its economic stability.
As the world watches, the Kremlin’s assertive stance against external pressures and India’s commitment to its own interests underscore a larger narrative about the shifting dynamics of global trade, national sovereignty, and the evolving landscape of international relations. Amid these developments, the call for dialogue and diplomacy remains more crucial than ever in seeking resolutions to ongoing conflicts and fostering cooperation among nations.

Trump had a insulting 🤝 😂
The thing is the US never learns its lessons from history….again trying to control other sovereign nations for their own interests…when they didnt side with india during ops sindoor and now cozying up to Pakistan….why they expect us to ditch our old friend and also the big discount which boosts our economy….we didnt bowed down to US in the 90s….theres not even a chance now….LOSING US MARKET IS NOT THE END OF THE WORLD……US DAYS OF BULLYING ARE OVER
Another paid artist. You seem to have stocked up well.
EU and US play double game. They are responsible for making Ukraine scapegoat to Russia
It’s illegal to target schools and hospitals in a war too Russia, but it doesn’t seem to mind doing that.
Usa still buying uranium from russia !
Russia is the ultimate crybully 😭
Trump frustrated because he cannot bully INDIA
The big Question is , would India and China throw away access to cheap energy ( which is very important to keep both growth and development going for their countries) just to replace them with an energy mix from far more expensive sources. Germany and most of Europe can't deny how rapidly Russian energy helped scale industries quickly and cheaply, and even till now some energy is bought from Russia. Would the economic giants of the global south replace logic with appeasement or keep their people first.
American importers would pay the tariff ( that's why it's an IMPORT TAX). Trump is such a mis-informed buffoon. He is ruining the American economy. Watch soon- America will be in a recession if not a depression.
Will Modi have a spine to stand up to usa?
Don't worry Russia india is with you till the very end we don't gaf about that taco or the entire west as a whole
It’s also illegal to take some other country’s land and declare it yours. Hypocrisy at its finest.
Indo- Russian friendship had seen more bad days. It will result in more deepening of indorussian alliance. Our enemies make our friendship strong.
🛑Have You All Forgotten This 👇🏼
In 1971 USA🇺🇸 sent the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise to the Bay of Bengal as part of Task Force 74. This deployment was intended to intimidate India🇮🇳, demonstrating US support for Pakistan🇵🇰 amidst the conflict. Then USSR dispatched a naval fleet to the area, demonstrating their support for India. 🇮🇳❤️🇷🇺
There is no USA oil that can substitute Russian oil. USA does not have oil to sell.
In truth, there's no oil that can replace Russian oil in the short term in the world.
But there is a commission India is charging us on resold oil, that Trump would like to get his hands on apparently.
Maybe, for a start, the United States will stop buying enriched uranium from Russia for its nuclear power plants, titanium for Boeing, palladium, fertilizers, etc. ?
Please get better experts than such psudos . What is there to study about Trump ? "The art of bullying " ? He is different from any rational thinking POTUS and the next one won`t be like Trump.
A complete ban on Russian oil trading is impossible, even under sanctions.
1. The first thing that countries consider is the security of energy imports, followed by cost. But Because the United States can impose sanctions today but get close to Russia the next day, what should those countries that are not NATO allies do?
2.Restrictions on Russia's so-called shadow fleet and maritime transport will increase costs, impacting Russia's ocean-going oil shipments. In other words, India is likely to succumb quickly, despite its tough talk.
3.However, this is unlikely to have a significant impact on pipeline transport. Pipeline transport requires daily oil flow; otherwise many problems will arise and the facilities maintenance becomes difficult. Therefore, countries with Russian pipelines are unlikely to significantly reduce this type of oil imports.
4.But another key point is that the US move is merely using Ukraine as a pretext, but in reality it's an attempt to control global oil trade. Because the US and the EU have already signed a major oil deal, US cannot provide addional oil export capacity. This is precisely what should be a cause for concern: the US is attempting to significantly raise oil prices and continue to exploit other countries.
India imports 85pc of its crude oil. Half of all Indians are farmers & need cheap fuel & fertilizer while its vital Steel industries need coking coal. The West may be able to withstand high oil prices, but India cannot. So secondary sanctions or no secondary sanctions, India cannot give up trade with Russia in crude oil, fertilizer, coking coal, uranium & other products.
The US tantrums can only bring advantage to India. India is 4th largest industrialized nation in the world with its industries catering to internal trade & least dependent on exports. India has everything except crude oil, fertilizer, coking coal & uranium which Russia can provide making the two economies highly complementary.
India must upgrade INSTC & Chennai-Vladivostok trade corridors for bilateral trade with Russia. That will also increase Indian exports to central Asia finding new markets there & also prevent Russia's total dependence on China which would be in Indian interests. India can also jointly produce advanced military hardware with Russia. US tantrums can herald mighty India- Russia alliance which will greatly benefit 3rd world.
Both India & Russia now settle trade in rupees and rubles. To balance trade, pharmaceuticals, plastics, organic and inorganic chemicals, home furnishings, grains, tea and coffee, milk products, and bovine products, marine products, textiles & apparel, footwear, machinery, railway wagon & electronics are being sourced from India.
Russia is also taking 1 million Indians on work-visa over next 6 months to work in various Russian industries, organizations, joint ventures & that will further strengthen cooperation between two countries. Russia is investing surplus rupees as FDI in India & that is additional advantage of trade with Russia. India can easily divert its exports not taken up by US to other countries. India imports 5 million barrels of oil every day. Increased oil imports from Russia can easily compensate for loss of US trade.
US is untrust worthy., Even during Covid crisis US it did not restore GSP status of India let alone include more goods under it, did not lift pre-Covid tariffs imposed on $1.14 Bn of steel & aluminum imports from India, nor did it expedite any Trade Agreement to help democratic India replace some of the US imports from autocratic China. On the top of it US had blocked exports of ingredients for vaccine production in India during Covid crisis while extracting HCQ imports from India.
India was considered arsenal of the West in the east providing inventory from boots, lorries to aircrafts for allied forces in WW2. It was thought by India that identical weapon systems will help India's presence in the QUAD but US has cleverly delayed deliveries of GE F404 Engines for India’s Tejas & delivery of Apache attack helicopters despite receiving upfront money. The US is too dangerous. Russia is more reliable. During 1971, Russia had blocked US 7th Fleet which helped India liberate Bangladesh. India can jointly produce advanced military hardware with Russia. It is better for India to kick out unreliable US in future defense deals.
US bad faith taking advantage of weaker India… surprisingly India not back down n stand firm… Trump playbook going wrong direction…
Russian bots not enjoying this 😂😂😂
Criminals don't benefit from the protection of the laws.
It's simple…… just allow India to buy oil from Iran or Venezuela ignoring the sanctions 😂😅
Trump can't choke India and its 1.5 billion population from getting oil cheaply.
Trump thinks that the American Teens who are making easy money on Adult platforms like OF and the Corn industry are gonna MAKE HIS AMERICA GREAT AGAIN.😂😅😂
Trump is a joker and DW his deputy😂😂😂😂
When this man said that Trump 2:58 has a nose for business, I knew he has no idea what he is talking about!
"We need to know what the [US] president is thinking."
Mate, no one knows what the president is thinking, or even if he is thinking.
He is like anti India.
Either DW is being run by a Pakistani today or they have been getting low views or just a slow day in DW today.
Really astonished how much indian themed video is being made in only a few hours.
Why don't you guys read what India's statement wes regarding west's double standard.
India didn't care how many Putin killed for the last 3 years.
Buying and selling for a profit? Isn't that capitalism is all about? Double standards much?
India should look into investing some of the money into R&D instead of all the money that goes into corruption. A judge was caught with loads of cash in his house. So many politicians are 1000 times more corrupt.
'B' in Donald Trump is Brain
US should check facts first US and EU still trades with Russia (€67.5 billion and $3.5 billion) more than India Does $68.7 Billion it shows US Hypocrisy
India is a sovereign nation and has every right to buy oil from anybody they want and resell it for profit if there is willing buyers. Also any other country who disagrees with india's actions has every right through trade or sanctions to show india they dont like it.
Its quite amazing that DW get people to speak what it wants.. USA has suprplus if we consider everything including remittances and money made from advertisement and all… india can raise tariffs.. who said India cannot??
Wait until EU and other countries decide to join in sanctions against India. India is not going to want that heat when other countries join in.
DW and their leftist cronies (so called guest/expert) can spread their lies to their audience but It doesn't matter how much venom you people spit towards India. Nobody, No power in the world can stop India's rise. The aspirations and talents of 1.4 billion Indians will ensure that India will be a great nation once again.
