Author Video Description
Matías is a medical oncologist who chose medicine with a clear purpose: to save lives. Early in his career, however, he encountered spirituality and came to understand that healing is not limited to the physical body—it also involves the soul.
Today, his approach to patient care integrates both science and spirituality. Through years of experience, he has learned that while he cannot always cure, he can always be present, support, and accompany people with compassion.
In this talk, Matías shares the profound lessons he has learned from accompanying people at the end of their lives, offering a powerful reflection on mortality, healing, presence, and what it truly means to care for another human being. Dr. Matías Zurawsky is a medical oncologist based in Coronda, Argentina. For more than 15 years, he has accompanied one of Argentina’s most respected religious leaders, an experience that has profoundly shaped both his personal life and his medical practice.
Outside the hospital, Matías enjoys gardening, spending time with his dogs, and sharing a plate of ravioli with tomato sauce—or a traditional Argentine barbecue—with family and friends. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
