I still think this $119B TeraFab idea is way too ambitious. No company has ever scaled semiconductor production at this level before.
Honestly, Tesla trying to compete with Nvidia AND Intel feels unrealistic. They’re great at cars, not chips.
People underestimate Tesla again. They said the same thing about Gigafactory and Giga Press, and it actually happened.
Even if this works, I doubt it will be profitable anytime soon. The costs are insane.
This feels more like a long-term vision than an actual executable plan. Maybe 10–15 years minimum.
If Tesla succeeds here, it won’t just change the auto industry—it will completely disrupt semiconductors.
I don’t understand how they can manage cars, robots, AI, and now chip fabrication all at once. Something will slip.
Intel partnership rumors sound more realistic than Tesla doing everything in-house. They’ll need help.
People are either overhyping this or underestimating it—there’s no middle ground in Tesla discussions.
Do you think this is actually about chips, or is it really about controlling the entire AI ecosystem?

Tesla has launched the massive TerraFab project in Texas, aiming to integrate its own semiconductor manufacturing. By working with Intel to accelerate technological breakthroughs, the company hopes to challenge the traditional chip industry and support Elon Musk’s broader AI ecosystem.
[00:00] This video reveals Tesla’s huge expansion plan in Texas and the secret mission behind it, suggesting the company could evolve into an industrial empire in the future.
– The video opens with large-scale land grading work at Gigafactory Texas. This is not a routine expansion, but preparation for a future industrial empire.
– The initial investment commitment for the project has risen to about $55 billion, with long-term projections possibly reaching $119 billion, showing that Tesla’s pace of expansion is exceeding expectations.
– Inside Giga Texas, Tesla has reportedly been assigned a confidential mission aimed at transforming itself from a chip designer into a fully vertically integrated hardware powerhouse.
– Tesla’s goal is to build a manufacturing system capable of handling up to 1 terawatt of computing capacity per year to meet enormous data demands, posing major challenges for semiconductor manufacturing.
[02:23] Tesla’s TerraFab project is reshaping the semiconductor industry landscape and expanding its collaboration with Intel, which could disrupt traditional manufacturing processes.
– The TerraFab project is designed to shorten the learning curve required to build advanced semiconductor fabrication facilities.
– Intel is reportedly in deep discussions with Tesla to integrate its advanced manufacturing technology into the TerraFab initiative.
– TerraFab’s financial expansion shows its transformation from a conventional factory into a massive industrial complex, without relying on traditional subsidies.
– Market opinions on TerraFab are divided. Some see it as a revolutionary breakthrough, while others view it as a high-risk diversification strategy.
– Official documents indicate that Tesla’s investment strategy is based on risk management rather than an absolute obligation to invest.
[04:45] Tesla’s TerraFab project is intended to secure a stable silicon supply to support future product expansion and reduce dependence on external supply chains.
– TerraFab’s long-term plan is based on demand for more than 200 billion integrated circuits, making it central to Tesla’s future growth and related businesses.
– TerraFab is specifically designed to ensure a stable silicon supply, allowing Tesla to scale its products without being constrained by third-party manufacturing capacity or geopolitical risks.
– Tesla plans to build a fully self-sufficient industrial city in Grimes County, reducing reliance on public infrastructure while independently developing its own energy systems.
– TerraFab’s enormous demand for power, water, and computing capacity makes integration with existing public utilities extremely difficult, turning infrastructure itself into a complex engineering challenge.
[07:08] Tesla’s TerraFab project aims to control the entire hardware supply chain in response to dependence on external manufacturers and growing competitive pressure, ultimately enabling in-house production of AI chips and systems.
– Tesla’s next-generation AI chip development faces structural limitations from outside manufacturers, slowing production progress.
– Tesla can no longer rely on external manufacturers to solve production bottlenecks, which helped drive the creation of TerraFab.
– TerraFab focuses on the foundational hardware layer, producing the physical silicon wafers for AI chips and complementing Tesla’s broader AI infrastructure.
– The project creates a self-reinforcing industrial feedback loop, integrating data feedback into AI training to enhance model capabilities.
– Tesla’s strategy is to reduce dependence on Nvidia and other costly suppliers in order to achieve greater independent innovation.
[09:34] Tesla’s TerraFab project reflects Elon Musk’s ambition to vertically integrate within the semiconductor industry, a move that could disrupt the traditional chip market while creating major opportunities and risks in the AI era.
– Tesla is developing custom silicon chips optimized for its AI workloads and plans to manufacture them internally, gradually replacing third-party solutions.
– The success of TerraFab will depend on several key milestones over the next decade, including infrastructure development and the actual deployment of manufacturing equipment.
– If Tesla and its partners can achieve stable sub-2-nanometer production efficiency before traditional fabs, they could reshape the balance of power between Silicon Valley and global semiconductor manufacturing hubs.
– With the global semiconductor market expected to surpass $1 trillion before 2030, the potential rewards are enormous, but so are the risks.
Gotta go, This info is late…
Grimes county… he's still inside Grimes then
If this video is not good enough to narrate by human voice it's not good enough for human ear
America needs to bring semiconductor manufacturing back to America. China will take Taiwan, it is just a matter of time.
