The reasons behind Israel’s decision to block Gaza aid, as explained by Netanyahu

In a recent announcement, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu revealed the reasoning behind Israel’s decision to block aid entering the Gaza Strip. Netanyahu stated that Israel has accepted a U.S. plan to extend the ceasefire in Gaza by 50 days, but Hamas has rejected the plan, deeming their demands for a permanent ceasefire as “unacceptable.”

The ceasefire proposal, put forth by U.S. President Donald Trump’s envoy, Steve Witkoff, is intended to last through the Ramadan and Passover periods, effectively halting fighting until the end of March and April respectively. However, Hamas has refused to agree to the temporary extension, insisting on sticking to the originally agreed ceasefire plan which includes negotiations for a permanent end to the conflict.

Netanyahu attributed Israel’s decision to suspend aid to Gaza to allegations of Hamas stealing supplies meant for the Palestinian population in need. The situation has been further complicated by Hamas declaring they will only release Israeli hostages under the terms of the phased deal that had already been agreed upon.

The ongoing tensions between Israel and Hamas continue to plague the region, with both sides standing firm on their respective stances. As the conflict remains unresolved, the humanitarian situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate, leaving many innocent civilians caught in the crossfire.
