The secondhand clothing market is experiencing a surge in popularity, and ThredUp is at the forefront of this trend, reselling an impressive 17 million garments every year. Utilizing the power of AI, resellers like ThredUp are able to efficiently sort, price, and sell used clothes at a faster pace than ever before. This innovative approach not only benefits the company but also contributes to reducing fashion waste.
ThredUp’s automation of listings is a key component in their success, streamlining the process and making it more efficient. The photography department plays a crucial role in showcasing the items in the best possible light, enticing customers to purchase. By storing and shipping used clothing effectively, ThredUp ensures a seamless experience for both buyers and sellers.
AI shopping tools further enhance the customer experience, providing personalized recommendations and making the shopping process more convenient. However, despite these advancements, there are still millions of garments that end up in landfills and deserts. The question remains whether new technologies can effectively address the issue of fashion waste.
Countries like Pakistan, Ghana, and Chile have their own unique approaches to handling used clothing, showcasing the global impact of the fashion industry. From Ghana’s Kantamanto Market to Chile’s clothing waste crisis, there are both challenges and innovations in textile recycling.
In conclusion, ThredUp’s use of AI in reselling 17 million garments every year is a significant advancement in the fashion industry. While technology has the potential to reduce waste, there are still obstacles that need to be overcome to create a more sustainable future for the fashion industry.

What's up with the girl still wearing a mask? Is she part of the mask cult?
That is such a weirdly high tech solution for a clothes store but it makes so much sense.
Simply wonderful! Thank you for your hard work and talent! 💞✨
Very cool! Thank you for your attention to detail! 😚🍒
Looks like that place in Monsters Inc where all the doors are set before they're called down.
When mold is in clothing it's a problem.
Its the Walmart of used clothes. Destroying small mom and pop businesses. This isnt something to be celebrated. Dont listen to the facade of them helping the economy. They are only taking the good clothes out of small businesses hands leaving ONLY the garbage.
Your videos are always top-notch. Thank you.

Just in time… I need to overhaul my closet.

Basically developing countries deals with the garbage of USA and lther developed countries.
How can one can say these countries as developed when they dump their trash clothes and harming the local economy?
No wonder it it targeted to and from women. Seeing all the clothes women buy.
reupload?
I wear my clothes to the end ripped faded blue Levi's with Adidas white or black shirt always casual! ( Soul)
I wish they would ship internationally.
90% of that landfill junk probably came from SHEIN and Temu.
The warehouse looks like it’s from Monsters Inc.
Can we work together I got 7 digit selling limit eBay ! I need a team
thredup is a scam, don't be fooled. you are better off selling the clothes yourself because of this AI system. check out any forum or video online on the topic 🙁
Great job Thread Up and all the other companies who take on the used clothing market. It truly is sad how much garbage is out there known as clothing, we must be responsible. 💕👍
You forgot to mention the fact that sometimes US Aids and Trade perks (very paltry) are contingent on accepting these second hand clothes, which essentially squeezes and undermines the domestic garment industry of the respective country. Rwanda banned the import of second hand clothes/garments. Subsequently, they were banned from AGOA (Africa Growth & Opportunity Act)
"They [companies] answer to their shareholders first." That's the source of many evils in our society today.
So men don’t buy so much clothes and when they do they wear it for years and years. True! We men are more practical and not wasteful. 😂
My face when I fill that bag up 😂 love ThredUp and how they are helping our world recycle clothes!! ❤
Nice work!! 😍
The Romans had their lead pipes, the 21st century has it's micro plastics

2.5 years?! I'm wearing a pair of pants right now I've had for 15+ years lol
I wear out my shirts, dresses, shorts, pants, shoes, etc…until it becomes unfixable or completely worn out. I also have a very limited supply of clothing. 8 days worth of spring, summer, fall n winter. Anything more is a waste of money, time, let alone space to hold anything new. N yes, all my apparel is of natural fibers only. Imo, folks that are a shopaholic is either too bored in their lives, that or they are just trying to impress others rather than be sensible and impress their own self…which if of much worth. Well that's my 2 cents and pray for better days where a need is not a want…and then to bring back nature uncluttered without our toxic nonsense
3:49 – An uncomfortable truth the world needs to face is that women drive fast fashion and the resulting ecological disasters behind it.
Recycling and everything is nice but what we really should focus on is discouraging fast fashion…. The recycled items still end up in underdeveloped countries and eventually harm the environment
The fact that they don’t sell men’s clothes because we wear them till they fail to pieces is hilarious. I’ve got clothes with holes that I still wear when I’m cleaning or fixing my car. I’ve got jeans older than my nieces and nephews! And they’re teens!
too much AI for me
Nice. Great business for customers and environments. AI put to good use finally! I think we need solution for clothing waste long term..
