Trump Turns on Zelenskyy as Ukraine Strikes Russia: The Aftermath of a Drone Assault
In a bold move, Ukraine has executed one of its largest drone attacks on Russian soil, targeting critical oil facilities and infrastructure in and around St. Petersburg, the stronghold of President Vladimir Putin. This latest offensive raises significant questions about the evolving dynamics of international support for Ukraine, particularly in light of recent comments from former U.S. President Donald Trump.
Trump has openly criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, suggesting that his administration is reluctant to seek an end to the ongoing conflict. The former president has expressed concerns that Ukraine’s aggressive strategy against Russian oil infrastructure could exacerbate global diesel prices, impacting economies far beyond the battlefield.
“Attacking Russian oil targets is a dangerous approach,” Trump stated. “These actions are only driving prices higher and could weaken Ukraine’s position at the negotiation table.”
Adding to the complexity of the situation, Trump has defended his decision to suspend new sanctions against Russia, claiming that such measures could jeopardize diplomatic channels. However, critics are questioning whether this strategy serves to pressure Moscow or inadvertently rewards Putin for his aggression.
Andrew D’Anieri, Associate Director at the Atlantic Council’s Eurasia Center, offers insight into Ukraine’s bold strategy. “The recent strikes are a calculated move designed to undermine Russia’s oil revenues and, by extension, its ability to finance the war effort,” he explains. This assault aligns with Ukraine’s broader objective of bringing the war closer to Russian citizens, potentially shifting public sentiment against the prolongation of the conflict.
As the debate grows over the U.S. response to Ukraine’s military actions, political analysts are concerned about Washington’s commitment and its implications for future aid. Questions arise: What happens if U.S. support begins to wane? Can Ukraine sustain its offensive without the backing of allies?
Furthermore, there is speculation that the focus on St. Petersburg as a target signifies a new phase in the conflict, designed to remind Russian civilians of the war’s impact and rally them against Putin’s aggressive policies. “Striking deep into the heart of Russia sends a powerful message,” D’Anieri notes. “It could provoke public discontent with the war.”
As Ukraine defies warnings and escalates its offensive, the world watches closely. The outcome of this strategy could redefine the course of the conflict and reshape international alliances in the process.

Regardless of whether I want war or not, the words of the Russian and US presidents are nothing more than paper—destined to be torn or crumpled in the end! Russia is acting irrationally, desperate to find a way to intimidate Ukraine into giving up the fight. The US is merely meddling under the guise of involvement, yet in reality, it has no grasp on the mindset or the paranoia driving both Ukraine and Russia. Any maneuvers the US might employ to halt the conflict are ultimately beyond its control; even if the US were to intervene and dictate who should lay down their arms, there is no guarantee that either side would actually comply. In the end, these words and promises are nothing but paper and empty talk—things that Ukraine and Russia are likely laughing at behind closed doors. Russia is the oppressors and aggressor why we have Ukraine that already four years now
Keep hitting them!!!!!!
Down Vladimir Pooptin! Long Live Ukraine!
Dear US, when will you replace your current president?
The last good president you've had was Obama. I think you need Obama style president. World needs Obama style president. What you have now is not a president, but a luantic!
Not even walls take that lolcow in white house seriously haha
From America we're supporting the war hero, Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He will go down in history as the opposite of the war criminals Putin and Trump.
I believe he just said, "Ukraine has a wide group of allies in the United States and Europe." Sorry that your guest didn't chime in with your "King of America" narrative.
He sees himself as a peacemaker? I see him more as a weak man groveling at the feet of his master, a Neville Chamberlain of our generation. Only in comparison, Drumpf is more treacherous, and inconstant than any president in US history.
Ask protesters in France how high fuel prices make them feel 😂😂. Burn baby burn . Coming to Germany, those immigrants animals about to lit 🔥 Germany
Truth is everything. Very good President Zelinsky, the world is proud of you. Slava Ukarinie
Trump is a petulant man-child. His mood swings and tantrums mean appeasing him is useless. Zelensky, and all the world, know that as long as Trump is in charge, the US is not to be trusted. Trump is more concerned with having a safe haven in Russia than anything else. Watch for an unscheduled flight of Airforce 1 after the US elections.
Trump should pressure Europe then war will end in no time. 😊
The riots happening all over Europe right now are basically caused by the spike in living costs due to the energy crisis and inflation, made worse by public funds being diverted to the Ukraine War, cutting citizens' subsidies, and getting even more heated because of the surge in immigration that triggers social clashes and frustration over environmental rules that strangle the local economy.
Is Trump LIFTING sanctions or STOPPING any new sanctions? Get your story straight because those two are not the same thing
Brussel Elites just manipulate EU to enter never ending war to bleed EU fund and corrupt the fund for maintaining EU Elite Power of course Zelensky getting a big share while being president
The closure of Hormuz hurt the world economy.
Mar a lago is a valid military target at this point
Trump wants to buy Russian jets. Has advised Ukraine to stop destroying jets.
1:14 you conveniently leave out the fact that putin kept striking Ukraine for 2 days when Ukraine honored the ceasefire for that long. Then they defied the "ceasefire"
don't cry tomorrow, it's a war NOTa genoxide…..
This war would be over if Trump was not the President of the US.
Trump wants to buy more internet space and has advised Ukraine to stop destroying Putin’s AI data buildings.
Even Canada is not taking Trump seriously. Why would Ukraine?
They're all mentally unstable in the face
Comrade Trump activated
Maybe Trump should end his with Iran which is causing the same thing of energy shortage
It's become incredibly tedious to hear over and over again well meaning reporters and analysts attempting to find something rational in Trump's actions. President Zelensky's unaltered position and Ukraine's continued drone strikes against the Russian war machine clearly demonstrate that Trump is a tool of Russia and anything he says or does is increasingly meaningless. This war will end, Russia will lose. In the U.S. any support Trump and his enablers once had, and any protection Trump's corrupt majority on the U.S. Supreme Court will abandon him. Trump's core MAGA hat wearing supporters are an isolated group of desperate fools, and greedy tech billionaires. (I hope they all hide out together in Argentina when the indictments are issued…. ) The vast majority of Americans support Ukraine, see Putin for exactly what he is — the enemy of democracy, economic growth, and the rule of law.
Waiting for the day Ukraine hits Ptuins mansions. 🍿🥤
Trump says Zelenskyy doesn't want peace. Zelenskyy says Trump's sanctions waiver is helping Putin. Meanwhile, Ukraine is striking Russian oil facilities deep inside Russia. Is Trump right to hold back sanctions to keep Putin negotiating, or is he giving Moscow concessions without getting anything in return?
