In a recent episode of the show “To the Point,” the discussion centered around US President Donald Trump’s decision to implement tariffs in an effort to protect American manufacturing and create jobs. The episode featured a panel of experts including car expert Beatrix Keim, geoeconomic analyst Claudia Schmucker, and journalists Clifford Coonan and Erik Kirschbaum.
The guests highlighted the potential risks and implications of Trump’s tariffs, with the consensus being that tariffs are not a useful tool and will likely lead to a rise in inflation. Additionally, it was noted that tariffs will not only impact developing countries but also US consumers, making it a dark day for free trade. Businesses are facing uncertainty as they navigate the changing economic landscape, especially since imports to the US are currently cheaper than domestically produced goods.
The panel discussed the effects of tariffs on the auto industry, emphasizing that US carmakers could potentially pay billions of dollars if tariffs are implemented. This, in turn, would lead to a rise in car prices for American consumers. The global economic system as a whole will be negatively affected, particularly since car parts cross borders multiple times before cars are assembled.
While Trump argues that these tariffs are necessary to support low-income individuals, the panel expressed skepticism, suggesting that the US will ultimately be the country that suffers the most from these protectionist measures. The EU is expected to respond in a rational manner, but questions regarding the future of globalization have been raised.
Overall, the experts concluded that the idea of globalization may be at risk if more countries follow in Trump’s footsteps. The episode shed light on the complex implications of Trump’s tariffs and their potential impact on global trade.

If the tariffs work, it will be in a way he doesn't expect and at the expense of the US. Other countries will trade amongst themselves, reducing tariffs between themselves – boycotting the US.
If other countries drop the tariffs and agree free trade this wouldn’t be an issue. The world has had time to negotiate tariffs with trump but they didn’t and know 2 can play that game.
Europe has infested & ruined US institutions with woke ideology
Its an easy solution. The EU just needs to remove their tariffs of US products and we will lower ours. Lets have free and open trade. Common sense.
Tariffs until doom
This is not the bottom. Trump will try invade Greenland, Canada, and Mexico
Given that these tariffs are reciprocal why don’t countries objecting to these tariffs negotiate on the basis of removing the tariffs and restrictions on US products in exchange for Americas tariffs to also be zero.
All European? Lol…
Germany doesn’t stand a chance. I predict they’ll be the first EU domino to fall in line
I'll tell you what this is about trump's ego.. and Trump's supporters that wanted to get back at the democrats.. So, these individuals are willing to destroy the economy and america. Out of spite.. Then trump took it further . It's like trump said he loves the poorly educated. So it was easier to dumb down America. Trump has done nothing but spread hate and violence across America.
Now Trump is talking about justice. He forgot that every time the USD is increased in value called the USD hegemony, the world is getting poorer, and debt trap applies. Trump also forgot that 8 billion people in the world inhale toxic CO2 every day and many countries have lost their lands thanks to petrodollar that triggers global warming.
The madman will be gone in four years, so invest and trade elsewhere in the meantime.
Man Lots of feeds about the trump tariff. I dont like it but i guess its good that others liked it
More than 280 billion of Russian money is frozen in the European Union and Great Britain. This money can be confiscated as aid to Ukraine and used to produce tanks, military equipment and military cars that requires a lot of steel. The production will create jobs and boost the economies of Europe and Great Britain.
Go on with it already because, unlike Trumps liberation day, Russia has long been liberated from the United States ponzi scheme, which they present to the world as an economic system. If someone in Washington thinks that a Russian would loose sleep over 500% tariffs on third-party countries purchasing critical resources needed for the health of their economy, then that person must be highly deluded,it's your world against those third countries go ahead impose tariffs on them, which also means interfering in the sovereign affairs of those countries,Russia will need to sit back with a popcorn in hand to watch how this drama unfolds.
The EU are just Hypocrites , it a tariff and Now Would Order !!! .
Trump won reelection handily? Not at all. And very few of his voters are buying into this bs.
❤❤As an American, we've needed this for so long. I stand with America. ❤❤
Tariffs are Trumps favourite word – we better give him a lot back.
This is absolutely insane!
My father born in italy left in 1972. 80% of the cheese sold in italy came from America. in 1980 the EU put a 200% tariff on American cheese. America is doing the same thing thing Europe did to screw us.
Tariffs always raise prices, the question becomes will the imported products now be more expensive than what can be produced domestically so people switches to domestic, otherwise it's just hitting the pockets of consumers without any real benefits to domestic industries.
The United States can always create a large-scale WAR…. , that would force the United States to Concentrate on Massive War Production Machine as they did when they {not by choice} got thrown into the Second World War in December of 1941.
European countries are screwed!
Her guest "Eric" made me feel ill. What a turd.
Господин Трамп ввел санкции против всего мира!🤣🤣
Something else, not only do we the American people have more disposable income than a lot, not all, but a lot of these other sovereign nations that allows us to be able to purchase these other sovereign nation's goods, than they have enough disposable income to purchase our goods, thus a contributing factor for these trade deficits…, but also there is the simple fact that we do not need these tariff monies to begin with. Surely President Trump has factored all of this in with his tariff strategy and I, for one, hope that he is successful with what he is doing with his tariff business, but at the same time I understand that we electronically generate we the peoples' $s in order to meet federal expenditures, and this is why we don't need these tariff monies. We've been doing this since the 'formal' (we've always done this) adoption of QE2 back in 2009…, over FIFTEEN-YEARS ago, without any real negative consequences, and most importantly, without the need to have even one cent of federal tax revenue $s being involved. At the same time the rest of the world's sovereign nations, except China, are too afraid, it does appear, to adopt this quantitative easing (QE) and or this deficit spending process or what I call the reality of the Equity Spending (ES) process that is also an explanatory narrative on quantitative easing.
Succinctly stated, there are a whole lot of facts not being mentioned that are directly related to this latest tariff dust up, and that very much needs to be corrected before things get too far out of hand, in my humble opinion.
My full name is Oscar Dean Windham, and as a non-clique member I am the most censored, the most suppressed scrivener/author in the entire world because I comment publicly, like this, about the fact that we do indeed now routinely electronically generate we the peoples' $s in order to keep our federal government's lights on, so to speak. AND…, and you can be absolutely certain that President Trump, along with our nation's top tier federal officials, both elected and appointed, and on both sides of the political aisle, are every bit as aware of the reality of this Equity Spending process as I am…, 100% guaranteed!
Господа, вы зачем ограбили и изнасиловали Америку?
In some years to come, humanity will look back and thank Mr Trump for helping us to get out of the American invincible delusional ideology. Humanity will eventually awaken to its greatness which has nothing to do with America.
America is driving global inflation. An evil leader.
America slapped on EU's face, and EU figured out a way to blame it on China. LOL. a bit of racism and a bit of pathetic. im hoping asian countries come together and leave the EU fella out there to dry
I love listening to germans tell me what i voted for while ingnoring the voice of their own people in their own country
Globalization has never helped the poors, so don’t say it is the way of progress or that we cannot move back. Globalization only helped increase the difference between rich and poor people. Here in France we 're poorer, it’s so much harder to buy a house than it was in the 80's
If US tariffs will hurt the US, how come existing EU tariffs don't already hurt the EU?
After the rain, everything feels more vibrant
Trump has ruined the economy
А вообще жизнь у вас там веселая🤣🤣
Its not a bet. Trump alienated the world. This is the beginning of the end for the american empire
50/100 taxes will only benefit the government and prices will rise
If you think you are great over and above your fellow human beings, you are living in a fantasy. All there is, are inextricably connected as one. This is the only truth. All else self delusion.
When you assume Trump is a Russian asset and comprehend that he just want to hurt everyone around, then all this make sense.
CHINA is the FUTURE! NOT US
Germany is facing complex economic and geopolitical landscapes:Losing Business in China, High Energy Prices, Increasing Military Spending, etc.
Looks like moving manufacturing to the US is a good idea.
