Wishing you both a speedy recovery – pleased you appreciated our free health service but please don’t tell everyone- we already have millions wanting to come here and take advantage. We don’t object to hard working folk such as yourselves. All the very best. Geo. ❤
Loved the cyber security commercial 😅 so glad you're doing better! Take care guys, we love ya'll!
Glad you;re better now. WHY is there a 'season'? You have an all weather boat, no?
24:23 That is one reason the NHS is short on funds they more often than not don't bill foreign patients. The system is there but it seems to be a lottery who gets bill .
This makes me so sad…and angry, that we don't have health care in the US like other countries
Here in US we just avoid going to Dr's bc its just so expensive, and that's with health insurance. How amazing it is in other countries for free or lower cost care.
Really glad that everything worked out well! The NHS system is something that I think is fantastic, but it is far from free. The British people pay a fortune in taxes for it and for tourists to get occasional use I thin is fine, but it drives me nuts to see people (mostly Americans) going to countries with socialized medicine to have their babies, surgeries, and other expensive treatments, because they don't have insurance. Putting the bills onto other people is irresponsible. That doesn't apply to you, you do carry insurance and are willing to pay, so kudo's to you. I lived in Scotland for a couple of years and my landlord was the town doctor. He wouldn't see me in his practice (unless it was essential), he preferred just stopping by after work. I couldn't pay, even though I had international insurance, but at least I could provide a good meal and a pint or two in return.
Hope you both feel better soon!
God Bless
Godspeed Folks…
I know those childhood lung ailments all too well. Asthma, smoking household, hospital visits…
That horrible music! WHY?????
In the 1990s, a woman worked hard to try to expand healthcare coverage and strengthen support for ordinary Americans. Her commitment to children, families, and communities was reflected in her book *It Takes a Village*.
Meanwhile, countries such as the United Kingdom (1948) and other Western European democracies had already recognized that healthcare and social protections could be provided within a capitalist economy. They didn't have to abandon capitalism or democracy to recognize a shared responsibility for the well-being of their people.
I'm glad you are feeling better. Having traveled globally, I am amazed at the level of health care received over seas. Back in the United States and maybe we will get it right one day? I will probably call another country home when I retire in a few years. Have safe travels and God's speed 🙏!
Some days you're the windshield and some days you're the bug. Glad to see you both are getting better. Just go to bed and pull the sheet over your head and hide. 😀
You are in a different world.
Jason, it’s time to get some new socks on the beach. We can see holes in your socks lol
Thank God you were close to medical care!!
Get well soon sweetie, pneumonia is rather unpleasant. Jason I hope you’re feeling better soon too and it doesn’t deteriorate
I have been following you guys since your van life days but rarely comment. I gotta say the life you have built is incredible and the sights you have seen are remarkable and probably more than most of the population. I know I will never see most of these places in person so I am so grateful to see them through your eyes! Thank you for taking us along on these adventures!
The NHS is not perfect and sadly it is underfunded but the one thing you can never fault is the standard of medical care you will get from everyone that works in it. I have never interacted with the Coastguard but sounds like they did an amazing job as well. Glad you are feeling better and Jason take of yourself as you don't sound great. Get better soon and safe sailing
You guys are awesome, thanks again
So happy you are both on the mend and had such a positive experience during your health challenges. Also love your powerful storytelling and presenting adventures in "real life experiences". Take good care and we continue to look forward to your weekly "visist"
US Paramedic, kayak guide and WIlderness medicine instructor here. I think you guys did great. You had pulmonary edema (the pink frothy sputum) along with your pneumonia. But it sounds like it went as well as possible. I would highly recommend the next time you are in the US take a Wilderness First responder course (which you can do in 5 days) and you will learn to use a stethoscope. Which would have helped you figure out what was going on. Outstanding job. Please wear a PFD anytime you are in a kayak – particularly at night.
Prayer and well wishing to the both of you 😊
Well good to know Every Israel citizen gets free healthcare courtesy of the USA taxpayer.🤑🤑😉😉 Universal healthcare is so good. a fair just system. like Australia. we pay, through a little extra taxes. so good. Would hate to be a US person, must be dreadful thinking about the cost. I feel for the average people who get sick there.
Hope you get well soon. 👍
I'm going to say it. Don't over do it Nikki,
We all know your fit and strong, just don't try and climb any mountains,
I know you guys are wanting to test the boat, I had visions of you trying a helicopter rescue.
Jason Trump😂😂😂 brillliant.
You both are a joy to watch in health and sickness. Experiencing your adventures vicariously is usually a true delight; but, this episode about a sudden illness and responsive, kind healthcare was emotionally moving. Healthcare in my rural community in Oregon has devolved over the last two years and is on the brink of closing. And an emergency experience in Portland three weeks ago was horrific. To say the least, the nurses and doctor were tired. l love your pluck, good-will, and gratitude!
Ok….so when you get back to the states it's probably a good idea for both of you to get your shots especially the pneumonia shot.🤔
A couple weeks ago, I had a respiratory infection. I hit hard and lasted 2 months. I sat up in a chair 24/7 to not get pneumonia. It still felt like I coughed up my lungs. I can't imagine trying to maintain a boat during an illness. Get well soon guys!!!
So sorry u guys got sick…..you do know where to send the bills….TXs…😅
You had a very rare NHS A&E experience. Although I’m in the London area.
À serious episode well told. Impressive response all around to your call for help. You both look well now. 😬
Very interesting episode. Thanks for getting it out at a time when you would have probably wanted to just roll up into a ball. Get well soon.
My daughter is a paramedic with the same ambulance service. They are on quite a lot of pressure at present to not take you to hospital – if they say you need to go, they really mean it!
So glad you are ok now, our emergency services are amazing, including the RNLI. All people in those services will put themselves at risk to save mariners, stop fires, run in to danger to help people from all walks of life, to literally save their lives. We do moan, I think it’s in people’s nature but my goodness we are so lucky to have them all.
As a Englishman, I sleep so well at night, knowing that the good people of the NHS are always there to cushion my fall. I'm glad to have the warm embrace of free at the point of use health care. ..
So Glad Your Better ! As I child we lived on Belgium, every winter I got munmonia. Ihad it so often I could self diagnose. Once we came back to Canada never had it again. Has to be the cold dreary high humidity along with a cold. Take care Jason rest up. CHEERS AND FAIR WYNNS Steve h.
Ok ok,… This is a sad video… How about useing A1G the sponcer. The catch line would be…AIG is not the 100% a cure for the flu.
We also have a similar Healthcare system in Canada. Like most countries though it is in a bit of a crisis because of provincial and /or federal government mismanagement. I've seen people bad-mouthing it and even thinking we should have Private health care. NOT. But there are other educated people everywhere. I'm so glad you had a good experience and are on the mend. Looking forward to your winter adventures.❤❤❤
Volunteers that get paid… does not compute, error, error.
What was your experience of the British medical system compared to your home country.
As for visiting Salcome first…… it's only downhill from there 😆
I am so glad you were treated so well our Emergency services are marvellous and often with people who are underpaid but dedicated. I hope yiu are both recovering xx
So sad to hear you’ve been poorly. If I can help with anything on the boat please get in touch. (Paul & Sam) We met you guys at Dartmouth quay.
