In a heated debate among key political leaders in Canada, Mark Carney, Pierre Poilievre, Yves-François Blanchet, and Jagmeet Singh faced off in the first French-language debate of the 2025 federal election campaign. Poilievre appeared to soften his attacks during the debate as he battled to win over Francophone voters, while Singh criticized him on his policies. Carney’s French skills were put to the test, and Blanchet didn’t hold back in going after Carney.
Amidst the political debate, Canada’s central bank decided to hold interest rates steady in the face of U.S. President Donald Trump’s escalating trade war with Canada. The Bank of Canada’s decision to maintain the benchmark rate at 2.75 per cent marked the end of a streak of seven consecutive rate cuts, reflecting the uncertain economic climate.
Despite the pressing issues at hand, advocates for vulnerable Canadians feel that poverty is not receiving the attention it deserves during the election campaign. As Heidi Petracek discusses, there is a need for comprehensive solutions to address poverty and support those in need in the country.
On a more positive note, some of Canada’s top female soccer players are embarking on a new journey with the launch of the Northern Super League (NSL), the country’s first professional women’s soccer league. The NSL’s inauguration signifies a significant step forward for women in sports, highlighting the importance of gender equality and representation in the athletic realm.

What if Bloc Quebecois is the secret sauce we've never thought to vote for.
Vote pierre
Should be a lie counter during the debate. Carney might blow the thing up lol
We don't want Trump 2 for sure!
i aint voting…
Carney for Prime Minister! PP keep barking but isn't offering any solutions.
Carney, if elected, will be the best leader China has ever had. Even better than Trudeau.
It's all WEF lies
Carny did great. Pp still doesn't have my faith or my vote.
Shame on the presstitutes of Legacy media. You have betrayed the people of Canada for the criminal Liberal bribes. Shame on you all.
three cheers for Pierre Poilievre, go concervatives
10 years of liberal deception, 10 years of economic decline—yet the majority still plans to vote for them. It is so disheartening to see so many Canadians being fooled for a fourth time
Flip flop Carney can't tell the truth ever. He's just like Trudeau.
So happy that the tides are turning against Poilievre. He is a Trump stooge and you’ve gotta be in denial to say otherwise. I really feel like we’d have gotten a lot more of the centrist’s that were on the fence this year if we’d given Erin O’Toole another chance.
Voting for conservatives is important. Other parties are not worth considering. We have seen the Liberals, and the NDP has proven to be a joke.
The green party will be fine… If they actually PLAY BY THE RULES.
Seriously, the fact that they want to "brigade" the conservatives out of a win is just ridiculous and just shows how crazy their rhetoric is. Like, I may not like the NDP or Liberals this election but I would never want them to be locked out of an election because another party said "no".
Pierre clearly is winning !!! Pierre for PM!
Is Global's Mercedes Analysis biased? Of course, all mainstream news media will lose their Taxpayer paid bonuses if Pierre is voted in. This is not news. Pollievre won hands down on the french debate since he tells the truth vs. the other 3 candidates smoke and mirrors and not acknowloging their real intentions that will continue to degrade Canada's quality of life.
This was a farce. Without the presence of Jonathan Pednault, co-leader of the Green Party of Canada, this debate was meaningless. It is just another way of pushing out views that don't represent the most powerful and wealthy, so that only the views of those people count. Shame on the organizers. Canada is going the way of the USA with this travesty of justice, and I am thoroughly disgusted.
Very disappointing, that wasn’t a debate. They were controlled questions that had to be answered in 45 seconds I expected Pollieve and carney to go head to head, but nothing like that really happened. Jagmeet interrupted far too many times off topic , with his agenda. Hope it’s better tomorrow.
I love Pierre !!! He is the deal hands down will be the best PM!!!!
🇨🇦💙Pierre Has My Vote!💙🇨🇦
3:13. A complete misrepresentation of the Bloq leaders statements. Media are dishonest.
Pierre 🇨🇦
Yeah I get 1300 A month ,,,, Rent and Hydro Worked all My Life At 56 Years old Now On Disability due to a bad Heart I have a place but people Who Live on street Need Homes to get a gov cheque and Not a shelter ,, I lucked Out got In my apt 12 years ago only pay In the 700 a month but my hydro is also my heat .. i couldn't move if i wanted rent is up to 1500.00 to 1600.00 a month don't forget you have to pay first and last when you rent and HAVE to give 2 months notice to old landlord so pay more for the old landlord when you you could move in on first of the month to the new place right away so your stuck in old place for 2 months .. Then You have slum landlords in my build we have a fire exit that we cannot use illegal but oh well that is what they say to me …
People brag about renting and not catching a falling knife. Don’t people know you will spend close to $1.5 million over a lifetime just from renting? Assuming rents never go up, $3000 x 12 months x 40 years. That’s only if you rent from 30 years old to 70 years old. You can save money if you plan to live with your parents forever or plan to live alone but that isn’t an ideal solution. Yes, you didn’t catch a falling knife but you will still bleed very slowly for a long time.
Owning a home cost more up front but you can look forward to being mortgage free in 25 years if you have the discipline to pay it down and never get a HELOC.

Global & CBC paid for by Carney and the Liberals!!🤡🤡🤡
People should be asking why did Carney's company Brookfield fund Tesla, Musk's takeover of Twitter and Ivanka Trump's husband's company?😮 Conflict of interest.
Pierre Trump!
Canada has to put an end the the Liberal/NDP mentality that has ruined our dear Canada’s freedom. Vote for change
