A Frost Advisory is in effect for 4 counties in north-central Oklahoma as temperatures fall as low as 36 degrees early Saturday.
The National Weather Service in Norman says frost could harm sensitive outdoor vegetation, and plants left uncovered may be killed.
A Frost Advisory is issued when frost is expected to form on a widespread basis. It is a step below a Freeze Warning, but it can still end the season for tender garden plants, flowers and late crops.
Where and when
The advisory covers Garfield, Grant, Kay and Noble counties.
It runs from 4 AM to 8 AM CST Saturday, Nov. 7.
Cities in the advisory include Enid, Ponca City, Perry, Blackwell, Medford, Wakita, Pond Creek and Lamont.
NWS forecast maps show overnight lows of about 35 degrees near Enid and 37 near Ponca City, with the colder pocket across the northern tier of the state.
The advisory starts at 4 AM, so the coldest hours come just before sunrise, when frost is most likely to form on grass, car windshields and exposed plants.

What to do
Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. Cover them or bring them indoors before sunset.
Frost typically fades after sunrise, so the risk is mainly in the early morning hours.
Cool, cloudy start to the weekend
Northern Oklahoma has had a cool to cold, cloudy Friday, with patchy fog around the Oklahoma City area, according to NWS Norman. Clearing skies overnight are what allow temperatures to drop far enough for frost.
How to protect plants
Move potted plants indoors or into a garage before dark.
Cover garden beds, shrubs and tender crops with blankets, sheets or frost cloth. Avoid plastic touching the leaves, and remove the covers once temperatures warm after sunrise.
