Dead & Company have released new details about the Grateful Dead 60th-anniversary concerts at San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park from Aug. 1-3, including the announcement of special guests booked to play each show.
Bluegrass phenom Billy Strings will open the Aug. 1 concert, while singer/songwriter Sturgill Simpson, performing as Johnny Blue Skies, will perform Aug. 2. Trey Anastasio, frontman for Phish who performed with the surviving members of the Grateful Dead for the 50th-anniversary Fare Thee Well concerts, is opening the Aug. 3 show with his Trey Anastasio Band.
Last week, San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie leaked news of the three-day concert, which will take place the weekend prior to the Outside Lands Festival and will be produced by festival organizer Another Planet Entertainment and co-produced with Live Nation, in partnership with the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department.
Fans can sign up now for the artist presale beginning May 28 at 10 a.m. PT. Tickets go on sale to the general public May 30 at 10 a.m. PT, with three-day tickets starting at $635 ($556 + $79 fees), while single-day tickets are available, starting at $245 ($209 + $36 fees). VIP and travel packages will be handled by 100x Hospitality, with more information available at deadandcompany.100xhospitality.com.
A limited quantity of special $60 tickets will be available by lottery for California firefighters beginning Wednesday, June 4, at 10 a.m. PT.
The three-day concert series will also include Participation Row, Dead & Company’s fan-powered social action village hosted by national nonprofits HeadCount, which promotes citizen participation in democracy and U.S. politics, and REVERB, which organizes and promotes action at concerts and festivals to bring about a better future.
