All aboard! A year after his passing, the life and crazy times of late heavy metal legend Ozzy Osbourne will be the subject of the new Ozzy Osbourne: Prince of Darkness haunted house at Universal Studios theme parks during this year’s annual Halloween Horror Nights.
“Ozzy Osbourne’s shocking image was as haunting as his heavy metal hits. Now you’ll enter the Prince of Darkness’s kingdom where music and mayhem collide — and everything’s gone off the rails,” reads a release announcing the attraction. “Veer through a decaying world ripped straight from Ozzy’s lyrics in this haunted house inspired by one of rock ‘n’ roll’s greatest legends. Let the madness begin!”
The new attraction will join the raft of other haunted houses at this year’s Halloween Horror Nights, including ones dedicated to Evil Dead Burn, Hellraiser, season five of Stranger Things and Sinners, as well as Jack & Oddfellow: Chaos & Control, Cybergoria, Invasion Alien: Abduction, MADLANDS: Caged Cannibals and H.R. Bloodengutz Presents: A Halloween Fright-Tacular.
Speaking to EW, Osbourne’s widow and longtime manager, Sharon Osbourne, said the experience that’s part of HHN’s 35th anniversary edition will tell the rocker’s story from his working class childhood in Birmingham, England to his run as the frontman of Black Sabbath. “His music throughout every room is at the heart of it all,” Sharon told EW. “Fans will also see scenes inspired by Ozzy’s journey, from his early days as a little boy growing up in Birmingham, England, riding the train to and from London, to the iconic imagery and characters from across his career.”
The attraction is described as a “living horror movie” that will cover 45 years of Osbourne’s life, “transporting guests on a twisted journey though the artist’s outrageous and eccentric solo career.” This year’s event will take place from Aug. 28 through Nov. 1, with the Orlando and Hollywood parks reportedly taking different approaches to telling Ozzy’s story.
Osbourne died on July 22, 2025 at age 76, just weeks after Black Sabbath’s final concert on July 5. The theme park horror attraction will feature music from throughout Osbourne’s solo career, including: The Blizzard of Ozz (1980), Diary of a Madman (1981), Bark at the Moon (1983), No More Tears (1991), Scream (2010) and Ordinary Man (2020). The L.A. version will take guests on a time trip from Osbourne’s “early childhood to the Osbourne Asylum,” while the Florida one will be a journey through “ancient ruins and foreboding dungeons before boarding the ‘Crazy Train’ for a twisted ride into a realm inspired by the covers of his fan-favorite albums.”
Sharon Osbourne told EW that her late husband (whose nicknames included “Prince of Darkness”) would have “absolutely loved it, and I’m sure he’s looking down smiling,” though she noted that there will be no items from Ozzy’s personal archive, which are “safely preserved under lock and key.” She said the concept made her “incredibly happy” and the family very proud, with her grandchildren “counting down the days” until they can visit.
The whole thing makes perfect sense to Sharon, who said Ozzy would “absolutely love it. He’d be laughing his head off,” considering how much he loved horror movies and Halloween. “He used to joke that every day was Halloween in our house, so this couldn’t be more fitting.”
