A journey through the history of one of the 20th century’s most controversial topics, nuclear energy, told by those who lived through it firsthand. Focusing on events in the US, UK, France, and Germany, it traces its social and political development from the early days of postwar atomic euphoria to today’s “nuclear renaissance.”

Very good documentary. Interviews with lots of people that were in the thick of it in the 70s and 80s and 90s.
Economically expensive, unless you let governments pay the long-term costs – then private companies can make a lot of money.
For the climate change – that is the most powerful argument for nuclear.
Operational risks – a huge PR disaster. Other energy forms have so far caused way more deaths, so the fact that nuclear managed to become a literal nightmare of concerned citizens is just incompetence all around.
Long-term storage – that's what still kills it for me. The world has tried for 70+ years to find underground sites that will be safe for 100s of 1000s of years, and so far we got nothing. And this is not a future problem, we already have leaked barrels underground that need to be retrieved, repacked and re-stored – and we don't know how to do that safely.
The one thing I don't understand is: why didn't they focus right away on trying to "breed" the nuclear waste into harmless end products, in reactors? There's still a lot to be discovered in that area, and that's what I would focus on, if I wanted to sell reactors in the future. And we as the public should encourage research in that direction, even if only as a solution to decontaminate the mountain of already existing nuclear waste. That's the way.
I thought we were supposed to trust the science?
Why is Denzel Washington talking in the documentary!! 😂 (Joking)
Thanks. I don't like that. Properly managed, Nuclear power isn't dangerous! Chernobyl & Fukushima will be our painful experience, but there's no more efficient energy then the Atomic!
The upper Midwest e is powered by nuke and cold water ❤
Regan my president!!! I was born 80
Big oil gas coal monopolies spread nonsense about nuclear power causing mass hysteria in the uneducated public.
Hollywood made silly films .
Head of Greenpeace resigned when he discovered that fact.
More radioactive emissions produced burning coal Xenon Radon .
People are corrupt, they take money and what's left they put together something that it's not well made. Who is to blame?
Everyone. People for believing and not demanding full transparency for every single cent and heavy penalties for those who grab for themselves. Nuclear reactors are safe if constructed properly. Anyone taking money from such projects is directly endangering people and should be put against the wall. But most of the people don't want to deal with details, the result is and always will be bad.
I'm sure most of you didn't even read this comment to the end.
Solo les faltó investigar de dónde sacaban su material radiactivo los franceses 😂
