Germany before the election – Between hopes and fears | DW Documentary
War in the Middle East, war in Ukraine, migration, rising prices, and more – plenty of reasons for Germany to worry, and just as many to take action.
Following the collapse of Germany’s governing coalition in the fall, early parliamentary elections are now due to take place at the end of February. DW reporters Oxana Evdokimova and Carolina Machhaus traveled around Germany, speaking to people who are worried about what the future holds, but who are also tackling and helping to solve problems. According to one survey, the cost of living and the gap between rich and poor are particularly problematic in Germany. Food prices, for example, have risen by around a third since 2020.. Munich food bank founder Hannelore Kiethe says that demand has been rising ever since its founding. Affordable housing is another issue that concerns people in Germany, especially in the big cities. Christa Lippmann has founded a housing project for single women, with success. Dietmar Kibbel is concerned that Germany does not have enough skilled workers to get the economy moving again and is involved in a program for applicants to qualify as train drivers within a year — a highly skilled profession and one that is highly in demand across the country. It is an opportunity for Abdullah Alyaqub, who fled his home country of Syria ten years ago and hopes that his new job will give him more financial security.

and the AFD will do nothing against poverty. They are a very pro-capitalist party, this is why Elon Musk loves them. They blame migrants and foreigners, but not the system that is causing German poverty. Capitalism is the problem, but the ''Alternative for Germany'' is not the alternative for Germany. They win votes because of the failures of the left-wing, mainly the Left Party that failed to provide a socialist alternative. For years the Left Party (Die Linke) acted as a soft social-democratic party, working even with the larger pro-capitalist SPD (former social-democrats) in many local governments. This alienated many voters, who hoped that the socialists of the Left Party would offer something better. Instead they got a social-democratic party that speak left-wing, but governs like any other capitalist party. The AFD is popular due to the failures of the established left-wing and the failures of German capitalism.
A 2 year old was just stabbed by an Afghan migrant and leftist interrupted a memorial for him. Vote accordingly
These people live better than most humans of the earth. What do they have to complain about. They should be obligated to take more millions in, these are the deserving poor.
It's a bit like the Romanian/ Algerian beggars out side supermarkets in the UK, being dropped off by a guy in an Audi worth 100 grand, I followed them one day to a house in the country worth half a million, food Banks are also being scammed
Vote AfD!
Food Banks= ripping the piss
One word MIGRANTS
Angela Merkel legacy…
Just started the video and no mention of the real problems and what most Germans actually care about and this is why the AfD is rising.
CDU is going to win the next elections again anyway. They'll take 2 or 3 other parties to build a majority, which will lead to an ineffective government. Nothing will change.
Would love to be wrong though.
Okay, now I want to become a train driver. 🙂
The same is happening everywhere
“Cost of living is so high”.
Truth is people want to work in supermarkets parti-me and live downtown Viena or Berlin with a view to a beautiful park. Completely unrealistic.
Social media completely corrupted peoples realistic idea of economic parameters and good life standards.
The video shows how many live below 1.000 euros a month, but what is the trend in the past years? Has this number grown? If so by how much? How many depend on social help compared to 10 years ago?
Hope germany isnt dumb enough to elect AFD
1370 euro/month is eligible for poverty in Germany 😂
I'm moving to Germany to be poor
This is not only in Germany but don’t think is the far right that are worried about you…
Not just German whole Europe is hijacked and numb by so called American policy makers… the biggest concern is European politicians now driving by foreign policy…and citizens are not aware of…!!
DW Lefty PROPAGANDA News.
Neoliberalism has got to go!
"Hope" is not a plan. The US found that out…again, and again, and again.
Germans are starting to leave in droves for other countries due to the unsafety and threat from the "well well well" people. AFD is presenting the only clear solution to stop the murders, rapes and robberies by the new people.
