@25:21 one typically does not order salmon at a pub!!! England is known for its pink sausages and meaty bacon!!! And wonderful pints of lager! PS your 'American style' baseball cap and tank top are a great giveaway!!!
Sorry Gabe getting rid of the Goalies doesn't really make sense.
I love you Gabe but your take on football is utter hog-shit! 😂 Stick to travel.
I haven't watched this video, but I have watched most all of them for 10-12yrs. Haven't been watching much lately. They used to be great. Not any more. When you warn us that you are about to tell a trivia story from the other day, I change the channel. I would rather watch the scenery than listen to that. Commentary about history or what we are looking at is great. It just seemed better when you were a young and inexperienced guy.
You are in England – go watch a cricket match – and you will not be bored 🙂
Lets get pedantic! Gabe, not every church is a cathedral. In fact, cathedrals are quite "rare" as a cathedral is technically a church that serves as the seat of a bishop. So for example (and yes I had to Google this), there are over 40,000 churches in the UK but only a 100 of those classify as a cathedral, as there are only that many bishops in the country.
Oh Gabe. To provide Baseball and US Football as being more entertaining is where You lost me. 😂 Two games where players spend most of the time scratching their balls and lining up and getting points just for advancing around the diamond.
If your itinerary allows it, head down to kent and do a hike across the white cliffs of dover between dover and deal
Baseball is so boring you have to be drunk for it to have any semblance of enjoyability.
Working tonight turned out great, we don't want no touristy stuff.
I am with you on soccer, but I love baseball, that is boring for non fans, so go figure, but the one thing I can understand is the nation/state passion behind soccer…it is not necessarily the adrenaline fix for these other countries that we seek in the US in basketball and football with back and forth scoring for entertainment and drama sake, but the victory for the nation..and when you throw in the nuances of the hundreds of years of history and the geo politics of old and new, it is crucial for some nation/states to win, almost a boost in their national psyche, especially for the nation states that have a strong ethnic identity. So really the issue is not the game itself, the rules, and the strategy and scoring, but the competing against other world powers. National pride….PS ur only 80 miles from Glasgow……
So… What was that cross that you walked all that way to see???
Agree. How a person can sit through a whole game of soccer is beyond me. Other sports have worked on improving tedium. Baseball now disallows much of the B.S. surrounding the pitcher / time between pitches / catcher trips to the mound / batter stepping out of the box. Soccer needs to be more like "padel". Put some boards up for ricochets, alter the field dimensions. Require forward momentum beyond the center line during controlled possession.
Only reason why I know what/where Workington is, is because of their rugby league football team.
British Leyland had a massive bus factory there building the Leyland National and later Olympian bus ,but our rendition of run down is different to some American cities I’ve seen like Detroit in places that was rough ,great channel all the best 😊😊
The best game of the WC was today, when Argentina came back from a 1-0 deficit to beat England late. I was rooting for England. I'm sure the folks of the working class suburb of Workington are sad today.
Soccer-football is the most boring sport, except for all the others. Except gymnastics.
love the wind in the willows reference!

Me in a nutshell
Basketball is the most exciting sport. But the professional basketball players are 'too' good. College and high school basketball is exciting.
Although you may have moved on, that coastal area features a few contrasts. Barrow in Furness, it's home to nuke sub manufacturing. You can also buy a house there as due to many factors, they have some of the cheapest property. You're not far from from Sellafield. A nuclear power plant and dumping ground. The Irish Garda (police) have jurisdiction to take snap inspections there to ensure there's no polluting the Irish Sea by the dodgy English, I'm English btw. Fun facts, us British pride ourselves on unarmed police. Don't go poking around near Sellafield. It's policed by the Civil Nuclear Constabulary, the only full timed armed police. You'll be staring at the barrel of an MP5 or a Glock if you pull the same stunt as you did in Workington. In the North, Gtr Manchester police certainly, they have armed patrol vehicles identified as they have yellow or red asterisks labeled on the side of their BMW SUV's.
Maryport and Silloth are great towns with cheap accommodation. Good fish and chips in Silloth, try the black pudding …
Don't forget Keswick and Kendal. We too find the town name Cockermouth amusing for obvious reasons. Penrith and Carlisle are good too. If you're renting a car, Carlisle would be a good choice. Not far from Cumbria is the Yorkshire Dales. If you had to pick a settlement to visit, try Hawes as it's home to some of the best cheese making in the UK. Breathtaking scenery too with long walks to boot. They filmed a scene or two to Kevin Costner's Robin Hood at Hardra Force waterfall near there. It's nothing by US standards but we're proud of it. You have to go through a pub to get to it, perfect.
Your fútbol proposal 😂
Traveller obviously proposed that silliness regarding futbol ⚽ changes just to get the comments lit up 😅
Get rid of the goalies – so the last line of defence has to block the ball with their faces?? Perhaps we can make it more accessible for Americans by stopping the game every minute or two for McDonald's adverts.
I am so sorry to say that your views and suggestions regarding football are completely nuts. I have attended games all over the world and even a goalless draw can be exciting. When I lived in the States a friend of mine took me to a basketball game and I was bored stiff. Baseball is a woman's game. However I like bed watching the Redskins in the NFL and the Capitals at ice hockey, 10/10. Don't know how long you are in UK for but if you find yourself anywhere near Rye, Tewkesbury, Battle or Sandwich I am sure you would love these places. You wouldn't catch me dead in Workington . Scunthorpe is about the worst in UK.
Or watching cycling is boring because they finish only once. It's all about tactics, drama and referee decisions that make any sport interesting.
What a typical downbeat British small town. Everything shut or boarded up. Amazon has destroyed them as economic hubs. No money, few jobs, and local government starved of resources.
An interesting walk around this town that tourists never hear of. A look into life in the depressed North.
Nothing opens before 10 am on sunday.
Baseball entertaining? Get rid of goalkeepers? Yeah im unsubbing for that 😂😂
Workington is boring you should come to Liverpool! No offence but don't you ever get lonely travelling alone? Meet some Women
You should really get back to Belfast, totally different than forty years ago, its thriving nowadays! Lots to see and do!
Gabe roughly 17 of july is when english schools break up for summer holidays this means it is classed as high season from then on so accommodation prices in will be high so top dollar untill the schools go back in September ,in scotland schools go back in august so cheaper prices in august in scotland
Gabe you could buy a cheap tent about £30 and hike the west coast east coast footpath it goes from lake district to east Yorkshire coast you would need to put your big back pack in storage though
Salmon looks sketchy, what was the sauce? Sweet chilli sauce? 😮
Since you have dual nationality, does that mean you have two Schengen allowances?
I think that your opinion and suggestion about football is excellent!
It's now school holidays in England so prices for accommodation in the Lake District probably won't come down even for mid week I'm afraid.
Soccer is the most boring fuckin sport of all sports. American football and baseball is superior.
Hi Gabe. It's the Union flag, only called the Union Jack if it is being flown on a ship.
Hi Gabe,I feel a little ashamed for my country.Nobody goes there. It was also the town for Selafield nuclear power station, now massively decommissioned.York is much more interesting.
Good advice, nice video.
