Russian Foreign Minister Addresses the Press Following Ukraine Peace Negotiations

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov held a press conference following peace talks in Riyadh regarding the Ukraine conflict. The talks, which were attended by representatives from both Russia and the United States, were aimed at finding a resolution to the ongoing war in Ukraine.

During the negotiations, the US negotiating team was reportedly being guided by a “situation room” chaired by JD Vance, the US vice president. Senior American officials revealed that the team included key members such as Marco Rubio, the US Secretary of State, and Mike Waltz, the national security adviser, who were actively engaging with the Russian delegation.

Other notable figures in the war room included Steve Witkoff, Trump’s special envoy to the Middle East, who played a crucial role in setting up Saudi Arabia as a mediator during talks on Gaza. Additionally, Peter Hegseth, the defense secretary, Susie Wiles, the White House chief of staff, Scott Bessent, the Treasury secretary, and Keith Kellogg, Trump’s envoy to Ukraine, were all present during the negotiations.

The talks in Riyadh were seen as a promising step towards resolving the conflict in Ukraine, with both sides expressing commitment to finding a peaceful solution. The involvement of key figures from both Russia and the US highlighted the significance of the negotiations and raised hopes for a potential breakthrough in the peace process.
