The Ugly Truth About Multivitamins (You Won’t Like It)
In this eye-opening video, Dr. Eric Berg unveils the unsettling realities surrounding multivitamins. Often marketed as essential health supplements, many contain cheap, synthetic ingredients that could be doing more harm than good. The first ingredient on many labels is calcium carbonate—essentially limestone—showcasing a startling trend of using industrial fillers like maltodextrin, which can spike blood sugar levels more than traditional sugars.
Dr. Berg emphasizes the difference between natural and synthetic vitamins, revealing how terms like “natural” can mislead consumers, with many ingredients sourced from questionable origins like petroleum. Furthermore, critical cofactors that aid absorption are commonly missing in these products, rendering them less effective.
Moreover, he points out that nearly all popular multivitamin brands are owned by major pharmaceutical or chemical corporations, raising questions about the integrity behind these widely consumed supplements. This video is a must-watch for anyone seeking to understand the real composition of multivitamins and what they might be actually doing to their health.

3:38 Do multivitamins really work?
9:32 Natural vitamins and minerals
11:17 Fake vitamins exposed!
Many multivitamins are made with the cheapest, synthetic ingredients which could be doing more harm than good.
The first ingredient in many multivitamins is often calcium carbonate, which is limestone! The first ingredient usually makes up the majority of the product. Magnesium oxide, another common ingredient, is very cheap and has the lowest absorption rate compared to other forms of magnesium.
The term “natural” isn’t regulated, so ingredients derived from sources such as petroleum and coal tar can be labeled as natural. In nature, vitamins don’t exist alone; they are combined with other nutrients and cofactors, which are often missing when you take synthetic vitamins.
Biochemistry can not work without cofactors.
Although there are nutrients that are difficult to obtain in sufficient amounts from food, that doesn’t mean they should be replaced with synthetic multivitamins.
Maltodextrin is commonly used as a filler in vitamins and minerals. It’s a highly refined industrial starch, classified as a complex carbohydrate, and spikes blood sugar more than sugar.
Ascorbic acid is a synthetic part of the vitamin C complex. Approximately 90% is made in China from GMO corn and sulfuric acid. Many people have a genetic issue converting cyanocobalamin, a synthetic form of B12, and folic acid, a synthetic form of B9, into their active forms. This can cause negative side effects in 40% of the population.
Almost all of the popular multivitamins are owned by Big Pharma, Big Food, Big Chemical, or large investment groups. For example, Centrum Silver is owned by Pfizer, and One a Day is owned by Bayer. Nature Made is owned by the same company that sells Abilify!

is MegaFood brand ok?
6:30 – Not just CORN. Monsanto Frankencorn. The farmers are actually forbidden by from using any other kind, especially heirloom varieties. Did you know that it is ILLEGAL for farmers to collect their own seeds from the crops they just grew? Again, they are required BY LAW to use the Monsanto Evil Franken crops. I guess mom and pop farms are defenseless against the armies of lawyers and lobbyists being fielded by big ag and big pharma. "You guys make the population of peasants sick and we will TREAT them with drugs that make them sicker. Win, win! Ch-ching!!!
What about AG1?
Cross another product off of my diet…there goes the Flintstone vitamins…what to do, what to do ?? !!
I take Solgar vitamins. they claim to be all natural. what do you think???
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks Dr. Berg cause you're talking life and death!
Can you recommend a multi vitamin that isn’t full of the garbage you mentioned in the vid?
What are we supposed to take😅😅😅
In over half a century of taking supplemental vitamins on and off, and now having hit 65, I can say over the last 10 years I have not seen any real noticeable benefit from one brand to another. That is until I actually looked at ingredients and while I have to spend considerably more, a whole food multi, (Naturelo Whole Food Complete for Men over 50+ is what I use) I can attest it wasn't a day after taking them, a first time, noticeable reaction to them occurred. I can attest that not all are created equal…
Could you recommend a reasonable Men’s Multivitamin?? Thank you from AZ🐍🌵💪🏻
Dr. Berg is magnesium stearate a good filler. I heard it impacts gut health and causes bloating
Nutrient 950 with vitamin K by pure encapsulations is my favorite and by far the best multivitamin I've ever taken. I use it 5 days on, 5 days off.
So what multivitamins can we buy? Cant always afford good food or have the the time to eat all the good food to get all my nutrients
What about Garden of Life Organics line of multivitamins? Every nutrient is listed as being derived from an actual food source instead of chemicals in a lab. Can we trust them though since they were bought out by a large big corporation (Nestle for $2.3 Billion?
This is what Brave browser AI said:
-This acquisition made Garden of Life a subsidiary of Nestlé Health Science.
-Despite the ownership change, Garden of Life continues to operate independently and maintains its commitment to organic and non-GMO certifications, including USDA Organic and Non-GMO Project Verified.
-The company has stated that Nestlé has no plans to alter Garden of Life's mission, values, or product integrity
I feel pretty good taking the Garden of Life Organics men's multivitamin despite it costing about $45 a bottle (dose says take 2 tablets but I only take one and not every day so the bottle lasts many months).
My Nature Made Multi has Calcium Phosphate and Magnesium Citrate I wonder what you think about those?
I did a bit of research and Nature Made was one of the most legitimate supplement brands I could find.
The issue I've always had with multivitamins is that they contain such tiny amounts of each vitamin or mineral that taking them seems pointless.
In Dr. Berg we trust!
So how do I get ZINC
The guy from the country discovered Vitamin C in synthetic form and he took 4000mg every day until he died at 93. When he got lung infection at around 80 y.o he took 8000mg. Best to mix it with fresh lemon juice.
How do I get your vitamins??
Curious why you didn’t mention the co-author Daphne Elliot?
Dr. Berg have a multivitamin/minerals. If your vitamins don't have the ingredients he's using, then, you're taking Junk vitamins.
Thanks so much for this information. The things you've mentioned make so much sense. And that's why it pays to read and understand the ingredients that we're putting into our bodies. Thank you once again 🙂🙏
Silica can cause Hardening of the Arteries? Scarey. Because I listen to you, I get my vitamins straight from a company in the mail. Thanks Dr. Berg.
❤
I have never taken any multi vitamin product and after this, I never will.
Dr bergs multivitamin is nice
Also Brad stanfields microbitamin. These are the two best ive found.
I haven’t watched yet. My principal is not trust food and pharmaceutical industries. So I don’t take any supplements
Thing will get worse because Dirty Donny is tryng to kill us all!
You have to find the RIGHT multivitamin.
The stress caused by all the mixed messages we constantly receive is worse for the health than the substances themselves, IMO. Time to tune out.
I figured vitamins in organ meat would be good, so I bought that, but I figure how much can there be in a small capsule of dried meat? Also, I look at companies that claim to use organic veggies, but again, how much are you actually getting? Sounds like I need to just pull my juicer back out.
I take daily one tablet vitamine C, 2000ui vitamine D3, magnesium, and one multivitamine/mineral. In most cases the cheapest brands. Somehow I believe these are beneficial to me…
Universal Nutrition Animal Pak. Best multivitamin I have ever used and continue to use.
What about Truvani Organic Multivitamins? They're the only ones I take
Solution: Buy a higher quality multivitamin, such as "Naturelo One Daily"! Made from organic whole fruits and vegetables with NO GMOs and is vegan friendly.
eating liver once a week replaces an entire cabinet of vitimin bottles saving hungreds of dollars
Question for Dr Berg: I have used some supplements for a number of years.
Silicon Dioxide or Silica are present in just about every supplement.
Silica Gel absorbs moisture and are always in shipped packages.
The clear warning is DO NOT EAT.
A modified version of Silica is in “Health” products.
I recently looked at a “Nutrition Fact” label on a salad dressing bottle and it showed silicon dioxide.
I question why it is there when it supposed be only keeping moisture out of DRY products?
We use silicone as a sealant which is derived from the same earth mineral silica.
What should we expect when using the same base material for health care?
Who is behind your products? How do you know you are getting 100% of your requirements?
What do you recommend in lieu of multis?
Now the company is family own i think Thank you very much Doctor great advice 😊
Lot of comments are asking for a recommendation on a good multivitamin mineral. I didn't want to go there – instead I would rather people just start reading labels, do research and understand what they are buying.
