Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach has announced a civil lawsuit against Pfizer for misleading and deceptive marketing practices related to its COVID-19 vaccine. The lawsuit, filed under the Kansas Consumer Protection Act, seeks enhanced civil monetary penalties, damages, and injunctive relief.
The lawsuit alleges that Pfizer made false claims about the safety and effectiveness of its vaccine, including misleading statements about its impact on pregnant women, infertility, and the incidence of myocarditis and pericarditis. The lawsuit also accuses Pfizer of falsely claiming that its vaccine prevented the transmission of COVID-19 and of engaging in censorship attempts to silence critics.
According to Kobach, Pfizer’s misleading statements contributed to the company’s success in marketing its vaccine in Kansas, where over 3.3 million doses had been administered by February 2024.
This lawsuit is part of a multi-state effort, and more suits may follow depending on Pfizer’s reaction. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
