Air Canada Faces Midnight Strike as Talks with Union Stall
As the hourglass runs out, Air Canada finds itself on the brink of a potential shutdown with a looming strike by flight attendants set to begin at 1 a.m. Eastern. Negotiations between the airline and the union, which represents the flight attendants, have stalled, leaving thousands of travelers in uncertainty as they scramble to alter their travel plans.
The union, seeking to resume "good faith bargaining," is urging the Minister for Jobs and Families to refrain from intervening in the situation. The stakes are high as flight attendants prepare to walk off the job, a move that could bring operations to a screeching halt. With many passengers already in airports, the impending disruption poses a significant challenge, forcing them to reevaluate their itineraries.
Heather Yourex-West provides insight into the rights of passengers during an airline strike, emphasizing that those affected are entitled to a certain level of reimbursement. As travelers navigate this sudden turn of events, understanding their rights becomes crucial in mitigating the impact of travel disruptions.
Amidst this backdrop, other significant global issues are unfolding. Tensions are rising on the international front as U.S. President Donald Trump announces that no final agreement was reached during his pivotal meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska. This historic encounter marks a notable moment, as Putin becomes the first Russian leader to visit the state, which has deep historical ties to Russia.
In another critical development, discussions aimed at creating a legally-binding treaty to combat plastic pollution have collapsed after nearly two weeks of negotiations in Geneva. Delegates from over 100 countries sought to impose limits on production and harmful chemicals, but faced pushback from oil-producing nations advocating for an emphasis on recycling and waste management instead.
As Air Canada’s potential strike looms large, the implications extend beyond the airline itself, touching on broader social and environmental issues gripping the world today. The landscape remains tense, with each story intersecting in a complex web of global challenges.

better get a extra bag of chips
AirCanada thinks people give their time for free ,
we all know the wealthy CEOs dont give their time for free.
What a circus in Alaska! No chance of this ending any war!
Regarding plastics. The basic problem is greed and lack of concern for human health. So, instead of trying to convince oil producing countries to cut into their profits for the benefit of humanity, why not have the non-oil producing nations make their own laws and find their own innovations to reduce their own country's dependence on plastics until they don't use those plastics at all. Gradually, the oil-producing countries will cut their production because there won't be as great a demand.
GOD BLESS AMERICA. GOD BLESS DONALD TRUMP

The flight attendants deserved to be pay when they are performing their duties. – Regardless of whether the plane is moving or not. The only wheels are moving clause should be illegal.

Y'all better get yo sh** together before I fly to Japan on the 24th
Shame on Air Canada
Air Canada is not the “only option” as global states. If fact it’s the last option for most people who travel internationally
Like cellular services and other industries in Cananda, flight industry is almost monopolistic in Canda with very few alternatives. It is like all staged to keep prices up and rip people off. It is a shame that AC is earning billions in profit every year and offers millions of dollars as bonus to upper management but don’t want to pay their frontline crews their fair share. It is shocking to know that they are not getting paid until the flight starts moving. What a joke. It is their career to build a secure life not a social service. Smh.
Greed and indiference are the global banner of rich oil countries…👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎
Air Canada is not the “only option” as global states. If fact it’s the last option for most people who travel internationally😂😂
We all Canadians support AC Flight Attendants demands to be fulfilled. These FAs live on poverty salary without parents or relative support they can't survive on their own. Most FAs cannot afford to live nearby Airports esp Pearson and Vancouver but commute from far of places using GoBus to and from Airport and they pay these commutes from their own pocket. Can you imagine their pay hour starts when they close their Aircraft Doors though they arrive for checkins at least 2 to 3 hours before Flights but these hours not counted as paid hours imagine if there is delays in flights then nothing is paid. CEO of AC should accept FAs genuine demands and let them live on livable salary. Also AC should provide hotels near airports or AC residences so that they reside in those AC accommodation those who are single. Some FAs we heard lives far from airports and walk long distances after getting off buses to their residences which is unsafe.
Opinion !! , Air Canada , worst airline , haven’t flown with them for 20 years !!
Get rid of the fanfare music at the beginning —- it doesn't make anything more important
In your 🍼 🧴 🍾 water????
Full of toxins.
Greedy greedy greedy CEOs. Shame on Air Canada, I fully support the strike
Free free Palestine
The price of Canada’s hotels is obscenely over inflated. Greed, greed, greed.
"What do you mean you want me to fly you around the world". "We might collide with another plane or mountain".
