As the threat of a 25 per cent trade tariff looms over Canada and Mexico, one expert has come up with a surprising solution to the problem. While many are concerned about the potential impact on the economy, this expert believes that turning to some of Donald Trump’s billionaire buddies could be the answer. Names like Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and Jeff Bezos have been thrown into the mix as potential saviors in this trade dispute.
With February 1st quickly approaching, time is running out for Canada and Mexico to come up with a solution to avoid the hefty trade tariff. While negotiations continue behind the scenes, the idea of enlisting the help of some of the most powerful and influential figures in the business world is gaining traction.
Elon Musk, known for his groundbreaking work in the tech and space industries, could potentially use his influence to sway President Trump and prevent the trade tariff from being imposed. Mark Zuckerberg, the mastermind behind Facebook, has the ability to reach millions of people and shape public opinion on the issue. And Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, has the financial resources to potentially offset any negative effects of the trade tariff.
While it may seem like an unconventional approach, bringing in these billionaire buddies of Donald Trump could be just the solution that Canada and Mexico need to navigate this trade dispute. Only time will tell if this strategy will prove successful, but in a time of uncertainty, thinking outside the box may be the key to finding a resolution.

No joining any side Brics . From one evil side to another is not solution .
Canada should just merge with USA
Stop calling that guy Mr. Trump.
Did we call Biden, Obama Bush, Mr. Biden, Mr. Obama Mr. Bush no and they were a lot more gentlemen like.
Let’s just move on without the US. I know it’s gonna cost, but the rest of the world clearly saw who Trump was last time around which is why Canada became third overall in attracting foreign business so the rhetoric and attitude coming from 47 should push people even further!
Well said. Thank you.
Trump wants negotiations all will be ok
Canada proudly rescues and accepts Alaska April 1st…unless 😂😂
He is in Elon pocket !
This man has made more sense than anyone I have listened to so far over the Canadian US trade. We can never allow ourselves to be threatened abused by the United States of America again we need to build oil refineries in Alberta refine our own oil. Make sure that Canadians needs are met first Abroad. Furthermore, we need to put pipelines to the West Coast and sell our oil at top dollar to the top bedder and we need to start immediately
Hey Canada, what r u going to do aboot it ?
We have to stop the corporate takeover,
What do we do about Alberta’s government?
Non – restrictive clause is a place for mob lies to go unchallenged.
They take away rights so they can switch contracts in lawyer’s offices, and with kleptocratic control charge targets more and slander them.
Where is national oversight?
When Trudeau is no longer Prime Minister I ask him to be my lawyer to expose mob rule in Alberta.
Canada doesn’t need to loose. But if they don’t get their act together or they will. Just secure the border and clean up your loose ends that you exploited with Biden.
All the pundits and experts have an opinion but none of them address the real issue. It is inescapable that Trump is a malevolent narcissist who's motivation is greed, power, lust, and most of all to leave an image of being a world conqueror. That's why he want's to annex Canada and get his image carved onto Mount Rushmore. He's never made a deal or agreement that he's honoured and he lies continuous. But, we seldom hear about that from the media.
Let's bring down all provincial trade barriers and invest $100b in logistics infrastructure over the next five years. This includes improved ports, roads, and rail as well as a coast to coast energy network to bring Canadian oil and LNG to Eastern Canada and Europe. Let's bring down trade barriers with Asia, the EU, the UK, the Middle East, and Latin America in order to diversify all exports via global trade. Meanwhile, let's use our own material to build mass, mixed use affordable housing connected by fast, frequent transit networks in every major city. And while we fix the housing crisis, we should build hospitals and schools and community centers, as well as training doctors and engineers and teachers and tradesman and technicians. Let's solve all of our problems quickly and efficiently, invest in our country, and connect with the world, because that's the only way Canada can survive. It's time to move beyond being America's hat, and become a true superpower on the global stage.
Techno-corporate fascism coming no matter what party wins
The answer lies in the auto manufacturer lobbyists.
Anti trump news network
The objective is pretty clear. Trump wants to prop up the auto industry and other industries and knows that this will result in manufacturers relocating mfg jobs back into the US. Plan for how you will adjust to this now.
Donald Trump is The Juggernaut. His stampede is fun to watch.
Canada has since the 1970s recognized it has to diversify it's trade away from America. And it has failed to do so for 50 years. Why does Canada still not have an inter-provincial free trade zone? And instead of vilifying Alberta for making money, we should be supporting them with pipelines, rail and ports to allow for export to more than just the US. How many years in a row do our farmers keep struggling to get their produce to market because there are rail bottlenecks. The world wants what Canada has, we just have to open trade lanes to get our product there.
Tax Google, X, Meta, etc. Set up advertising taxes along side counter tariffs. The taxes can be removed when the tariffs are removed.
Lay off 200,000 government workers = 18 billion in savings.
We ran a 62 billion dollar deficit. Our debt payments federally are over 50 billion per year. Add in Provincial/Municipal debt and Canada pays out about 100 billion dollars per year in interest payments. We have let debt get out of hand.
edit: easy example of savings: Use AI to audit taxes. The CRA could lose 90% of it's current workforce, and the remaining 10% would be customer service reps.
There are many agencies where workers merely fill out forms. AI is great at doing repetitive and mindless tasks. Cutting 200,000 jobs is not science fiction, it is just a matter of will.
The discussion centers around the actual loss of Canada's independence and sovereignty, which I see as a "Belarusization" of Canada. From my perspective, Trump’s goal is to achieve this through a trade war—crushing Canada’s economy and then acquiring devalued assets at a bargain by his buddy oligarchs. While it’s clear this would harm the U.S. economy and its citizens too, it seems that Trump is indifferent to these consequences, just as he appears to disregard the suffering of Canadians.
This reminds me of Putin’s tactics in Ukraine before 2014, when he worked to bring Yanukovych to power, take control of the country’s assets, and shape its politics. We all know where that led—a major war once Ukraine refused to integrate into the "Russian world." The question now is: will Canadians be willing to embrace MAGA and its implications? Frankly, it’s a bleak outlook.
I believe the border issue is just a pretext—Putin had plenty of similar excuses during his time. Let’s not fall into the trap of thinking we can buy our way out of this situation. Just like with Putin’s actions in Ukraine, I feel that Trump is aiming for total control. The choice seems stark: either surrender immediately, as Georgia did in 2008, or unite and prepare for a long, tough fight.
What a bias headline. Billionaire buddies….. jingoistic yellow journalism.
JFK sat at that desk. What a world.
If Trump harms Canada economically, I can live with that as long as my government flexes hard on the USA as well.
You presume he knows what he's doing and that he has a plan.
if the tariffs drive business away,THEN respond. let's see how it affects our exports to the U S. i don't think we are taking business away from american competitors. i think they can't keep up with demand and rely on canada for the shortfall. if it gets down to playing hardball, we can cut off energy and minerals like nickel that they depend on and don't have down there.
Why is nobody talking about the big pink elephant in the room? About the 500 BILLION Dollars of Canadian Capital invested in the USA? Why is Canada not threatening the US of pulling back the 500 BILLION DOLLARS? I would love to hear about that. Thank you folks.

Why are we overcomplicating things? He thought it was the best trade deal for his own reasons, not because its something we all agreed upon – reliance is exploitable. Period. His power is in the buzz he creates by making big moves and threats – he fishes to gauge a response – trying to sway his opinion or convince anyone of whether he's right or wrong just plays into his hand because those things are irrelevant. If we're going to dangle desperately, tgen we're just letting him hold our power with our clinginess. Let him impose tarrifs. We should be focusing on our own self reliance, and trade with more honorable/beneficial partners. Forget trying to play against him
USA represents 340 million potential customers. Canada 40 million. The fantasy of having a tariff war against the USA has to stop. Canada must move to deregulate and make business very easy to do here now, the only attractive part for investors to conduct business here is because it is close to a 340 million person market to the south, no other reason. the regulations and unions and excessive taxes drive up the cost of doing business in Canada and especially in Quebec. Tariffs at first will seem not so bad as people will find lower prices on certain items that are overproduced, they will try to dump the surplus on the local market until the profits fade and the job layoffs begin. Local companies will close up shop one by one and international ones will look to conduct business in cheaper places that are less regulate if they don't have access to the US market. What about finding other markets to sell too? Shipping across an ocean is not like shipping down a highway and for many products probably even more expensive than the imposed tariffs. Quebec has massive differences (culturally, language wise. social-programs, unions, permits for business, taxes to control profits, et)c… from the new administration in the states and they need drastic changes to have any chance to not become poverty stricken and Quebec is my home.
He is going to try to use economic pressure to force Canada to give up sovereignty. There won’t be any pleasing him with negotiations and such. It’s time for Canada to form a free trade agreement with the EU and commonwealth countries. Forget the USA.
Canada learn from Columbia, they tried to resist but only lasted few hours, 25% tariff coming your way too if you don’t give give up the resources, which are ours since we subsidize Canada billions of dollars each year….
Donald Trump for Canada I'm praying
