In a bold move by President Trump, tariffs on imports from Canada, Mexico, and China have triggered concerns of a potential trade war that could have detrimental effects on U.S. consumers. Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum managed to negotiate with Trump at the eleventh hour, resulting in a temporary hold on tariffs for Mexico.
However, Canada is not backing down and plans to retaliate with 25% tariffs on specific products such as lumber, household appliances, and fruit in response to the U.S. trade actions. WSJ’s economics reporter Jeanne Whalen explains how these tariffs could drive up prices for American consumers.
The escalation of tariffs by the U.S. has raised questions about Trump’s motives and why he is so adamant about imposing them. With Mexico and Canada striking back, it remains to be seen what the future holds for trade relations between these countries.
As the situation continues to evolve, it is crucial for consumers to stay informed about how these tariffs could impact their wallets and the economy as a whole. The repercussions of these trade actions could have far-reaching consequences for businesses and individuals alike.

US was 77% of total Canadian exports and 63% of Canadian imports,
but Canada only accounts for 18% of US exports and 14% of US imports.
Canada needs the US. The US doesn't need Canada.
Canada had no leverage.

Canada can sell lumber to the entire world. Rare metals are in high demand and oil and gas will transport easily. And no other country will pay anymore, but We The People will.
Why is every news organization reporting on the tariffs instead of on Musk literally doing a coup and taking control of all of Americas moneys under authorization from no one but Trump, forgetting that Congress is supposed to have control of that?
All of them are bending the knee. They know Trump isn't Biden. Trump isn't anything like any President they've dealt with before. They know the good times are gone now.
Note: The video incorrectly states that natural gas from Canada makes up 99% of the U.S. supply. 99% of the U.S.'s imported supply of natural gas comes from Canada. Since the video published, Canada has struck a last-minute deal with the U.S. to delay new tariffs for 30 days. We are in the process of updating this video.
