Yellowstone fans are in an uproar after the fate of Kevin Costner’s character, John Dutton, was revealed in the latest episode of the popular Paramount Network series. Season 5, part 2 of Yellowstone premiered on November 10th, and fans were shocked by the decision to write off Costner’s beloved character.
Speculation had been swirling prior to the premiere, as news broke that Kevin Costner would not be returning for the second part of the final season. Reports of a rumored rift between the actor and creator Taylor Sheridan only added fuel to the fire, leaving fans disappointed and frustrated.
As the episode aired, fans took to social media to express their anger and disappointment over the handling of John Dutton’s character arc. Many were vocal about feeling let down by the decision to write off such a pivotal character in the series, especially considering Costner’s longstanding presence on the show.
Despite the backlash, the show continues to captivate audiences with its intense storytelling and captivating performances. It remains to be seen how the remaining episodes of Yellowstone will unfold without Kevin Costner’s iconic character at the center of the action. Fans will have to tune in to see how the storyline progresses and whether they will find closure after the shocking revelations in the latest episode.

Goodbye Kevin.
What an absolute 💩 way to get rid of John , the whole series how can they say he killed himself the man was the absolute opposite of anything like that , loved the series this episode has destroyed that ,
Great job on writer and producer of the show to pick worst way to get rid of him you ruined it
Who cares lol humans mad cuz they didnt the script 😂😂😂
I felt that way when Sid Fairgate died on Knots Landing.
You can’t please everyone!
His movie "Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter" bombed at the box office and made the studio lose money 😂
They thought this show would make it a success, they were wrong 😂
“Yellowstone fans livid cast member who left show over a year ago never coming back” 😂🤣🍼
So wrong on so many levels.
He didn't commit suicide, if you watch the episode. You would know that. Beth is going to go medieval on Jamie and Sarah's a$$.
It is going to make a great storyline.
Costner was going to be killed off somehow since he wasn't coming back to the show. Would you rather have him die of heart attack or some shootout?
This way Beth and rest of family have a good reason to kill Jamie. Instead of the lame reason Beth was mad at Jamie all of these years. Her poor choices when she was a teen had put Jamie in a terrible position, yet she blamed him.
😂😂😂kevin thought he was more important than he is.
I love kevin costner but why not just recast the character, are there no more actors out there just recast, dennis quaid would have been good kevin bacon and so many more
Why are people surprised that they killed him off when he said he wasn’t coming back to the show? I’ll bet these are the same people that voted for Trump. 🤦♀️
hes not dead…… all staged to bring out the real killers
I'm thrilled! They could have done this 2 seasons ago & then the series could have continued, but noooooo. Costner is easily replaceable
Great episode, I can’t wait to see the final episodes!
Kevin is gone who cares bye Kevin work on part 2 saga
I was disappointed that Costner chose to not return to production so that the show could either continue or conclude with him, but if you’re surprised that he was killed off at the start of the first episode of season 5 part 2, you’re obviously not a fan of the show, because you haven’t been paying the least bit of attention to it for the past ~2 years.
He was the the show you can try and make it seem like the other characters are you going to carry the wait but you cant hold a candle to Kevin Costner
It was Kevin Costner himself who announced he would not be on Yellowstone months ago. I felt that was wrong to spoil it.
After watching the premier, I wish Costner would have thought more Taylor Sheridan who gave him a role of a liftime and the rest of the cast.
Then maybe, his death on Yellowstone would have been different. He could have gone out fighting for his land.
Not much else they could do, he wasn't coming back for anymore filming 😂
It wasnt a suicide? What's the anger about? Ppl suck
Wow omg
Real fans honestly don't care
I think they could’ve done a little better than what they did, even though it does give a good lead into the whodunnit aspect
Love this episode….
So far, the departure by Costner during the strike along with inability and/or unwillingness to return in favor of his vanity project has the Shelly Long leaving Cheers, then starring in the critically panned bomb Hello Again feel to it.
taylor sheridan's over inflated ego is writing out checks that his lack of integrity can not cash.
I won't watch it anymore!
Costner was coming back because of scheduling conflicts? or so I thought. His movie Horizon an America sage fell way short of even breaking even (32 million with estimated cost over 100 million) So unless he willing to invest more of his own money like it did the first, highly doubtful the 2nd part will be greenlighted. I don't know what else he is doing but I would have waited another year if it freed him up to come back to Yellowstone for 5 more episodes. He has survived all this time and to killed off faux suicide is underwhelming. Still going to watch though. See if Beth puts out her cigarette in someone's eye socket!
Killing off John Dutton is not a good way to end his storyline.
I now could care less how the series ends. I don’t care about the remaining episodes.
Fans invest time in watching a series, but get thrown under the bus when actors, directors, and writers cannot work around multiple projects and egos.
Sheridan didn't owe Costner anything. He walked away from the show the same way he walked away from his wife and children. He's a putz
I not follow anymore
One revenge of the small Taylor
Well, Costner did say that he wanted to leave the show with a bang, pun intended.
not even surer i wanna watch anymore
