Canada’s Leaders React to U.S. Midterms: Implications for Trade
In a buoyant display of optimism, Ontario Premier Doug Ford expressed his exhilaration over the recent U.S. midterm election results, which saw Democrats gaining significant ground. “I was doing cartwheels down the street,” Ford shared, embodying a sentiment echoed across Canada’s political landscape. His reaction starkly contrasts with earlier comments about Donald Trump, reflecting a newfound hope in U.S.-Canada relations.
Despite the premier’s upbeat demeanor, the shadow of a trade war lingers, as tariffs against Canadian goods remain unchanged. These tariffs, enacted via executive order, bypass the legislative gridlock often seen in Congress, indicating that President Biden holds considerable power over trade relations. The challenge lies in the fact that while political landscapes may shift, the economic effects of imposed tariffs can persist.
In light of this, negotiations between Canadian Liberal leaders and the Biden administration are reportedly in an “intensive phase.” There is cautious optimism that a resolution could pave the way to end the trade conflict that has strained relations since its inception. Global experts, including journalist Mackenzie Gray, highlight the importance of these negotiations and the potential for a new chapter in U.S.-Canada trade relations.
As Canadian leaders celebrate the political fallout in the U.S., the more pressing question remains: How will these midterm results ultimately influence trade policies? As the U.S. shifts, so too may the dynamics of trade, with Canada standing at a pivotal intersection. The next steps in negotiations will be crucial in determining whether this political change can lead to an easing of tariffs and a rejuvenation of cross-border commerce.

"Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall."
If the big landmass had never been divided in the beginning which created two countries, ( Canada & America) north of the 49th parallel would be a lot more progressive than it is today.
The division is creating much disharmony between people.
There are approximately 450 million people in America and only 41 million in Canada.
There are eleven companies in America valued at over a trillion dollars while there are none in Canada.
Just think of the many Canadians who have gone to America to seek their fame and fortune and have achieved their dreams.
Elon Musk would be a prime example. He only spent a little over 3 years in Canada, went to America and is now the world's first trillionaire.
According to Statistics Canada, a record-breaking 120,640 Canadian citizens and permanent residents emigrated out of Canada entirely in 2025.
America is the Primary Destination:
Migration data compiled by the Association for Canadian Studies confirms that the United States remains the top destination for people leaving Canada.
Why has America progressed much more than Canada-?
Canadians are still paying homage to someone who represents a foreign institution, the British monarchy which is anachronistic and which represents an evil history.
Colonialism, slavery, genocide, beheadings, theft, tyranny, scandals, incest and more would be some of the words that describe the old British monarchy.
Since 1960, over thirty monarchies have been abolished and the old British monarchy needs to be abolished as well.
Of course he was celebrating as Deep State puppet, but its far from over.
Doug your the reason we are here
Ford doing a cartwheel, as in rolling uncontrollably down a hill?
Trump is a liar. He is a joke. Nov 4 was a great day for Americans.
Sooooo the Democrats win big time but its not gonna make any difference,
Ha Ha Ha Ha
Now they tell us..
Boycott Canada until Carney is gone 😂
Trump made his bed. Ford the sooner we get rid of this guy that calls himself a Conservative the better. Ford will soon be the worst premiere in Canadian History racking up more debt for future generations to pay then Rae, Wynne and McGinty did in their terms. nuff said
President Trump still has veto power.

Cartwheel? or a barrel roll?
Cartwheels to the grave !
Rarities (President's Party Gaining Seats): Only a small handful of times has the president's party bucked the trend and gained seats in the House or Senate during a midterm. Famous exceptions include:• 1902 (Teddy Roosevelt – Republican)
• 1934 (Franklin D. Roosevelt – Democrat, during the New Deal)
• 1998 (Bill Clinton – Democrat, following his impeachment proceedings)
• 2002 (George W. Bush – Republican, shortly after the September 11 attacks)
Think he’s eaten way too many wagon wheels, have doubts on the cart wheels.
Do not get excited Dougie. The reality is Canada has to change. The US GDP is almost 80 percent based on internal trade. In Canada that is 17 percent and only 6 to 7 percent is internal trade in products. Canada is very vulnerable and needs to find ways to build its own products and use them and not count on the US
Get rid of Ford
Canada can't make a deal yet. The current tariffs are every bit as illegal as the Liberation day tariffs and like them, will be struck down in US courts. But if we sign a deal accepting tariffs then it would be hard to kill those tariffs.
Will Canadians begin to focus on what their own government is doing or not doing now or will they allow the government and the media to continue distracting them and manipulating them.
