Dozens of rockets fired into Israel from Lebanon, IDF says

A tense situation has unfolded in northern Israel as a barrage of rockets has been fired into the region from Lebanon, the Israeli army has reported. The attack, allegedly carried out by Hezbollah, appears to have targeted industrial and military sites in the area.

While most of the 105 rockets were intercepted by Israeli defenses, some homes were hit, raising concerns for the safety of civilians in the affected areas. Video footage circulating online, although yet to be verified by the BBC, shows a fire erupting in a residential area near Haifa after being struck by a Hezbollah rocket.

As the escalation of violence raises fears of a potential full-scale war breaking out, the US Embassy in Beirut has issued a warning for US citizens to leave Lebanon while commercial travel options are still available. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant acknowledged the seriousness of the situation, stating that Israel is now entering a “new phase of the war” and focusing efforts on the northern front.

The conflict between Lebanon and Israel, long characterized by tension and sporadic violence, appears to be escalating rapidly. The situation remains fluid, with both sides on high alert as the international community closely monitors developments in the region.
